Kinsley's POV:
When I was 7 years old, my father, Samuel Peter, went out one night on patrol with his partner when they heard there was a robbery at a restaurant near them on the radio. The robber was threatening the customers with their lives if they didn't comply with the orders he gave. The police, counting my father went inside to rescue the victims. But one boy went running to the exit door to try to escape. The robber saw him and was about to shoot at the boy when my dad came and pushed the boy out of the way. As a result, my father was shot in the heart and instantly died. My mom and I were heartbroken with the awful news of my father. Me and my mom, Emilia Peter, moved to Maryland right after the accident. Now we live in a two-story house not too far from my grandparent's house. 11 years later, my mom and I have become independent and strong for ourselves. We have a girls night every Tuesday and Friday and our bond is one of the strongest. We spent the afternoons watching movies and relaxing after a day of school and work. Oh my bad, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Kinsley Peter. I'm 18 years old and I am a senior at Marshall High School, in Maryland. My best friend, Aria Walker, is the opposite of me, talkative and outgoing but can be satan itself if you mess with her. She has long brown hair with chocolate alike eyes that stared at your soul. I'm an outsider and very anti-social to people I don't know. For those who have a crush, so do I. His name is Theo William, he is the quarterback, the bad boy, the heartbreaker, and especially the player. His brown hair and his forest green eyes are like looking into the jungle. A sigh leaves my mouth dreamingly. I realize that Mrs. Dove, the literature teacher, is asking me a question about To Kill a Mockingbird. I open my mouth to say something but nothing comes out. "I asked if you know the line where Jean realizes the actual meaning of the mockingbird?" Mrs. Dove says with annoyance in her voice. "Umm, I believe in line 448 is where Jean realizes the meaning of the mockingbird because of the trial with the whites and negroes." I say looking back into my memory when we read that line. I hear chuckles behind me and I know exactly who that is. Georgia Robert, the perfect cheerleader, the rich snob, and Theo's girlfriend. With the blonde hair and blue eyes, she makes the perfect cliche Queen Bee. She makes fun of me and makes me trip in the hallways for no reason. "Enough with the talking, man I don't get paid enough for this" Mrs. Dove complained. The sound of the bell rang through the whole school, signing that class is over. I pack my stuff in my backpack and hurriedly made my way out of the room. Students flow out of the classrooms into the hallways to go to their next class. As I walked down the hall to my locker to drop my books off that I didn't need for the next class, I bumped into a hard wall, which is shaking with laughter. As I look up, I see the sharp jawline of Theo's chin, then I see the same smirk that he wears every day. "Hello, baby girl, like what you see?" He says with amusement. "Wha-at Um... You are blocking my way to my locker." I stuttered, curse having your perfect looking crush in front of you. "Well don't let me keep you, see you around baby girl." Theo says before winking at me and leaving me with my jaw on the floor. As he turns around to go to his next class, I make my way to my locker and stuff all my books in. The day goes by fast, and I realize that I only have one more class. My favorite class, art. My art teacher, Mr. Edwards, says that I have real potential in getting a scholarship in art for college which I need if I want to help my mom. Once I arrive, I start drawing to whatever comes to mind. When I see that I'm finished, I look down and my jaw drops to the sight of Theo in my picture. I didn't notice that I had drawn him through the class period. I could feel the blush coming to face like flash speed. "Are you okay, your face is super red?" A guy next to me asks, looking worried. "Yeah, just remembering embarrassing memories." I quickly put the notebook away from the prying eyes. I ask my teacher to go to the bathroom to cool my now heated face. As I make my way to the girls' bathroom, I hear moans and little noises coming from the janitor closet. Out of curiosity I opened the door, have anyone heard that curiosity killed the cat, well that is what happened to me. When I open the door I see a very flustered Georgia on top of Theo doing stuff you shouldn't be doing in a janitor closet. I can feel my heart falling on the floor and breaking. Once they both notice me there, I run out and make my way to the girls' bathroom, where I was supposed to be in the first place instead of snooping, look where that got me. I wipe the hot tears that are running down my cheek. Once I know that I look like I haven't cried for the last ten minutes, I go back to class. I see Theo sitting at the back table with his friends with pumped red lips and trying to make eye contact with me. I feel like breaking in tears again but I know that it won't change anything. He keeps looking my way but I refuse to look at him. The bell rings, and I leave the classroom like my butt is on fire. I go to my bus, ready to go home and have a girls night with my mom. I walk onto the bus and go down the aisle and sit in the last row in the back. I look out the window waiting for everyone to abroad the bus. Once everyone boards the bus, it starts to pull out of the school, to my relief. On the way to the bus stops, I stare out the window and start to daydream a bit. I daydream that Theo is a kind kinda guy and not a player, that he cares for me even though I want to be more than friends. Where both of my parents are together and I have tiny siblings running and laughing at the house. I snapped out of my daydreaming when I realized this is my bus stop. I get up and walk down the aisle and get off the bus. I start walking home and make a stop at the mailbox and check if there's any mail. Once I checked there weren't any, I headed inside of the house to be greeted by my mother. "Hey, honey how was your day at school?" My mom asked, happily. "It was good mom, I was thinking that maybe I could go to the mall before Girls Night. Can I take your car?" I said, hoping she would say yes. "Sure but be back by 6 o'clock. I have to talk to you about something." I heard her say as I run up the stairs and into my room. I put my backpack down and grab a small bag that I got for my birthday. I put my wallet and other essentials inside the bag. I went downstairs and into the kitchen to get a granola bar, and I made a quick stop to get the car keys and head out to my mom's car. I get in the car and put my stuff down into the passenger seat. I picked my phone up and start to look at my messages to see if Aria texted me, once I see she texted that she can't come with me to the mall because has to work, I put my phone down and pull out of my driveway and head out to the mall.
