The Hitchhiker

'Here we go' He thinks, right arm stretched out, thumb pointed towards the road. He watches as yet another car passes him. He runs his fingers through his hair as He sighs, 'Man, what happened to trusting strangers these days?', He sees headlights turn down this road. He sticks his thumb out once again, 'I should just give up. I doubt this guy will pick me up.'

To his surprise, he pulls over. He puts his hands in his jacket pocket, feeling his Glock 19 as he walks towards the car. "Where you headed?" She asks, as he stood there stunned by her beauty, "Do you want a ride or not?" she's frustrated with his silence. "Uh.. yeah. I'm headed East, Ohio, to be specific." He says calmly. "Quite a ways away. Hop in, I'm headed in that direction anyways." She says as she unlocks the doors. "Thanks."

'Finally another hitchhiker. I've been wondering where they all went.' She thinks maliciously, "So, if it's not too personal to ask, why are you headed there?" "I got family there. There ain't nothin' left here for me to do." He lies, 'If I do this, then I gotta leave the country, and Ohio's my first stop.'

After a couple hours of driving, He decided it's time, and so did She. She pulls off the road and drives into a nearby forest. "What are we doing here?" He questions, fake confusion all over his face, "Thought I heard something go wrong with my engine. Could you help? I'm not very good with cars." She smiles sheepishly. "Yeah. Just pop the hood," He says, disappointment hidden within his words.

They both exit the car and He checks out her engine. With his back turned, She pulls out a Beretta 92FS and points it at his head. He turns around and whips out his gun when he hears the click of a gun behind him. "So you're the one whos been killing all these hitchhikers? I've been looking for you." He says with malice, while cocking his gun. "What? Thought I was a man? Pitiful." She says irritated. He wastes no time, and pulls the trigger. She falls back, and shoots at him, and she strikes him in the abdomen. She aims at his head, intending on getting the final shot, but before she could pull the trigger, He points the gun to her head, "See you in hell." and he pulls the trigger, killing her instantly.

'I've killed her, Sarah. The woman that took you away from me.' He limps his way to the road, hoping to get someone to take him to the hospital. But he doesn't make it. He failed to come home to his only daughter. The only thing the love of his life left behind.

His daughter cries every night for the next 16 years, before she finds a note He left behind.

"I am truly sorry for risking my life to avenge your mother. There is a will in my desk. I am leaving you in the care of someone I trust. Her phone number is on the other side of this note. I love you so much, my sweet baby girl. I hope you can forgive me.

"Of course I forgive you, daddy. I miss you so much." she cries out, "I wish you survived."

She walks to the basement, and flicks the light switch, revealing her father in a cloning tube, "Soon, I'll have my daddy back."
