“Don’t you think 6th grade is going by too fast?” Jade asked me, organizing her binder. She was always so organized, compared to me, who didn’t clean anything until I was forced too.

“Yeah, at least we won’t have to wear burgundy polo’s anymore.” I said, taking out my math homework.

Our teacher, Mr. Dooney was somewhat strict. He didn’t tolerate any rude behavior, even though some of the rude behavior came from him as well. All he did was watch the news and he didn’t teach us anything. We had to teach ourselves. He would actually call students up to be the teacher while he just sat in his chair and drank his tea or his flavored water. He was bald, and he wore a very unfashionable wardrobe every day. Today he wore a multicolored button down shirt and light green high-waters.

Jade and I were best friends, and we never tried to irritate Mr. Dooney, but he was always in a bad mood so whatever we did it irritated him anyway. Jade already had gotten a phone call home. She was talking to me about something, but Mr. Dooney misunderstood what she said and took it as an insult towards him.

“Okay, class.” Mr. Dooney started out the class. “Marquis, you can be the teacher for today.” He had already passed out the papers we were working on, and he didn’t even let us get a good amount of time to do the work before he called on someone to teach us.

Jade and I were writing notes to each other to each other, since Mr. Dooney never let anyone talk when we have free time. We weren’t listening to the answers; we were too busy writing about food.

You don’t like pizza? Are you crazy?

No your best friend, Scarlett, doesn’t like pizza; you already know I’m a picky eater.

We went back and forth until Mr. Dooney came over towards us. I quickly crumpled up the paper and put it under my shirt. He was only coming over to get a tissue, but it was a close call anyway. Soon after the announcements were over, we went to our next class, science.

Our science teacher is Ms. Perry. Her job fit her personality perfectly because she was so bubbly and happy all the time. She hardly ever gotten mad at us, and when she did she tried to play it off the next day. She also had a good sense of style. Her outfits were casual, but the way she put them together were always on point. I’m glad I had her as a teacher; otherwise, science would’ve been boring.

My phone vibrated during the lesson, which meant someone had texted me. I took it out of my pocket slowly and hid it from everybody under my thigh. The text came from my best guy friend, Charles. I just ignored the message, because the last thing I needed was for my teacher to confiscate my phone away from me. I learned my mistake when she called on me to answer a question right after I put my phone back into my pocket.

“Umm,” I said stalling time. I looked at her facial expression. She gave me that face that always aggravated me, because she looked confused and dumb at the same time. She knew I didn’t know the answer, so she just wanted to embarrass me in front of all of my peers. “I don’t know,” I finally said.

She looked at me with her little dumb smile, as in she was saying ‘Next time pay attention’ without really saying it at all. My cheeks started to turn red, but it wasn’t that noticeable from a distance.

Jade was sitting next to me, but we didn’t talk a lot during the lesson. We usually waited until we were doing work or watching something on the projector.

The class went by fast, and we were already going to our next class. Jade was going to lunch, while I was going to my world cultures class. On my way there, James put his arm on my head but I ignored him. I was mad at him because he let one of his girlfriend’s try to curse me out. He never apologized for it, so until then, I won’t forgive him.

He kept calling my name, but the more I walked away, the more distant his voice sounded. Soon he was out of ear listening range, so I stopped and waited for my friends to come down. Jada and Courtney were walking down the hallway together, so I greeted them and walked with them to World Cultures.

“We should skip,” Courtney said. She was always the one getting in trouble, whether it came down to grades or just her behavior overall. She was still my close friend, so I didn’t let that affect our relationship.

“No thanks,” I said, still walking besides them.

“Well of course you wouldn’t,” Courtney started. “You’re a goody two shoes.” Jada started to laugh.

“You’re right.” I replied. I hate when people called me that, but I don’t like to start arguments with friends, so I let it slide. Just because I get awesome grades, doesn’t mean all I do is study and read. In reality, I don’t study for more than ten minutes. And when I do study, I do it the day of the test. I don’t spend days reading at a time, that’s just dumb. I’m just gifted at being lucky during a test, that’s all.

Courtney and Jada stopped walking, unsure whether to skip or not. I kept walking, and they decided to come into the class anyway. I didn’t want to be called a goody two shoes, but as long as I kept getting good grades, that’s the only possible choice that will happen.

“Hey, Scarlett,” A bunch of students out the class said as I walked into the room. Did I mention I was popular? Not popular as in, gossiping and being mean to people. But I had a lot of friends. Some think all the people I hang out with are nerds and geeks. That’s not really true. I only have classes with the nerds and geeks. I hang out with some of the so called popular people outside of classes, but nobody seems to believe that, so once again I just let it slide.

“Hi,” I replied back and walked to my seat. I sat next to my friend named Justin and on the other side of me was my other friend, Kianna. I knew both of them since the beginning on middle school, but since sixth grade is about to end, I knew them much better.

It wasn’t long until I went home and took a nap. My sleeping schedule is very messed up; due to the lack of time I have to sleep at night. After school I take a nap, get on my laptop, and then I do my homework around eight pm. I’m gifted with being a procrastinator, waiting until last minute to accomplish something.

I talked to Camille on Yahoo! Chat, a chat room where I can socialize with my added friends. I didn’t really get on here a lot, but I didn’t feel like texting and since I was already on the internet I wasn’t as reluctant.

CamilleRockStar101: Hi!

PreddieScarlett: Hey. What you doing?

CamilleRockStar101: Nothing, just about to get punished.

PreddieScarlett: Why?

CamilleRockStar101: I yelled at Emerick and Cameron. They pushed me and I pushed them back, but they told on me even though they didn’t even get hurt.

PreddieScarlett: Well you should’ve known that. How long are you going to be punished?

CamilleRockStar101: Not long, before the weekend, they make sure you will be able to come over!

PreddieScarlett: Yay, I’m going to start bringing my swimsuit, it’s almost summer!

CamilleRockStar101: I know! Only two more weeks and summer is finally here!

PreddieScarlett: I don’t want to go now, but it’s only for the best. I’m about to take another nap, talk to you later.

CamilleRockStar101: Okay, bye!

I logged off and turned my laptop off, my second nap of the day. Some of my friends were coming back, so I don’t want school to end so fast. It’s making me sad.
