I'm the friend you need

I get home to a very upset husband. I try to brush him off but he won't have it. I tell him I went to the school and sat in the parking lot. I studied and did my work and lost track of time. I end up sleeping on the couch because I don't want to listen to his drama.

I wake up the next morning looking and feeling like total crap. I get the kids up and ready for school then get myself ready. I'm sure glad I did everything last night. I look at my phone to see a text from Natsu.

Stay after class so we can talk. Please.

Is my reply. Short and simple. I take my kids to school then go to school myself. I think my math teacher will be surprised I did so much. Thanks to Natsu I understand things better. Not as much as I should but at least now I have a idea of what to do.

Math class consisted of us working in our books and asking her for help. Since everyone is on a different level it's hard to teach just one kind of math. I decide to go and talk to her about math. Maybe she can explain it better. I walk up to her feeling extremely nervous.

"Excuse me professor Scarlet?"

"Yes?"

"I was hoping you can help me understand math better."

"Let me see what you've done so far." She says with her hand out for my book. I hand it to her and she looks it over.

"Miss Y/N this is a big improvement over your initial test. Who helped you?" She asked in amazement.

"Professor Dragneel ma'am." I say shyly and she looks at me with wide eyes.

"He did?!" She asked in amazement.

"Yes ma'am. He was a big help."

"Well I suggest you seek his help more often if he can help you improve so much so fast. Here work this problem here for me so I can see what you've learned." She points to a problem and I sit down and work at it.

It takes me a minute but I feel confident and finally show her. She looks at it and smiles.

"I will be talking to him about being your tutor. Hopefully he agrees and with his help you will be acing this class." She says with a big smile.

"He actually already offered but if you can I'd like you to help me secure him as a tutor. You see my husband is the jealous type and a male tutor..."

"Say no more. If you want I can talk to your husband myself."

"That might not be necessary. Maybe just a phone call?"

"Consider it done!" She says with a smile. "Now back to work. We have only a few minutes before class is over." She says. I nod and head back to my seat.

Class is soon over and I hurry to English class. I walk in and say "good morning professor!" With a smile.

He turns and smiles and says good morning. I head over to my seat and take out my work. Soon all the students are there and class begins.

"Hello class! First I would like everyone to pass their assignments to the front so I can collect them."

Everyone starts passing their papers to the front and he walks by each front row desk and collects them. I feel his hand gently brush against mine and I blush. He sees this and smiles slightly and I feel my heart start pounding.

He continues speaking "Then I would like to inform you that we will be reading a book series. You can choose between "Harry Potter or the Twilight saga. You may vote and the one with the most votes wins. Please write down your vote and fold the paper and pass it to the front."

Some people groan and some people silently squeal. Either book series is fine my me. I've seen every movie for both. Twilight has always fascinated me though. I never could understand why Bella loves Edward. Yuck! I choose Jacob any day. Anyways. I decide to vote for twilight. I should make for a interesting read since I hear the books are more detailed than the movies. Natsu collects all the notes and goes to his desk to count them.

"Votes are in....the winner is.....Twilight!"

A chorus of groans and cheers are heard. And I see Natsu laugh.

"Those were my choices because as you know books are very different from the movies. I have read all the books from both collections and seen all of the movies from both collections." He explains while leaning on his desk "the purpose of this is to help you open your mind to new possibilities and new genres. Some people like fantasy, like myself I love dragons so Harry Potter is my choice from the bunch. While others like vampires and werewolves and enjoy romance along with confrontations. Now I know everyone loves the Harry Potter series but few like twilight. Hopefully by the end of this you will see the series in a whole new perspective." He says with a smile.

"Now I have your books. Please take them and start reading." He takes out a box and starts passing out books when he hands me mine I feel his hand brush mine again and I could of sworn he winked at me.

What? Nah I'm imagining things. Right?

I open my book and start reading. This is bad because when I read I tend to zone out and ignore my surroundings. I was engulfed in the book when I see a hand in front of my face.

"Y/N. Hello?" I hear Natsu call in a teasing voice. I jump and look up to see him smirking at me.

"Oh hi. Sorry." I look around to see a empty classroom. "Class is over?" I ask.

"Obviously." Natsu teases and smirks. I giggle and put my book away.

"I asked you to stay remember?"

"Oh yeah. What is it you wanted to talk to me about?"

"Last night. I just. It's just that what you said worried me." He says sadly

"Natsu. I told you don't worry. I know I have you now and I know I can go to you anytime I need help. If something happens you will be the one I run to. I promise." I say with a smile and place my hand on his. I notice my action and blush and quickly remove it.

"I hope you do. I don't want to lose you." Natsu says sadly and walks to his desk

"Oh Natsu before I forget. I talked to miss scarlet and told her how you helped me in math. She was happy with how much I learned from you and she's going to talk to my husband about you being my tutor so he doesn't freak out. So I should be good with you helping me more often. How often could you help me?"

"I'm free all the time once I'm done grading assignments. Just text me when you need help or you can call me to." He says with a smile

"Great." I look at the clock "I have to go. Bye Natsu!"

"Bye baby"

I freeze

"Baby?" I ask surprised and turn around blushing and see him blushing worse than me

"Uhhhhhh forget I said that. Please. Go on ahead. Heh." He stutters. I nod and leave while still blushing.

Ok. I officially don't know what to think. I know I have a crush on him which I'm controlling surprisingly well but does he have a crush on me to?? Why else would he call me baby?
Oh man I have a bad feeling but a good feeling to....
I think to myself as I get in my car and go pick up the kids from school. I go home to hear my husband arguing into the phone.

Oh no. I can just guess what's going on.
