Walking into the door of my designated classroom, I immediately headed to my old, mahogany desk. It was five minutes before class and I preferred to get to class early so that I could prepare. Not that I needed to anyway, I mean I could just use my super speed. Oh right, yeah I've got super speed. I've also got telepathy (that's how I know who hasn't done their homework) and telekinesis. I can also use my speed and telepathy to spot any trouble makers (being 19 and being a troublemaker myself, it's quite easy to spot pranks before they happen).
Using my super speed, I raced around the classroom setting things up for the day. My short, wavy, red hair was tied up and my sharp green eyes that faded to silver at the bottom snapped to the door once I'd heard it start to open. No matter how much I tried, most of my red hair still fell in my face. I had decided to wear a light green shirt, black jeans, brown combat boots, and my black hooded jacket. I stopped running and reached down, picking up a book off my desk and looking to the door, pretending to be startled at the noise. A mop of blonde hair appeared in the doorway and blue eyes stared forward with the want of knowledge.
"Good Morning Miss Neptune!" He chirped with a smile.
Of course it's him...
Terrance Waters. A seeker of knowledge, straight 'A' student, and a boy who never got in trouble.
"Mornin' Terrance." I responded like I usually did.
"How's your day Miss?" Terrance asked, sliding into one of the front desks and opening a book.
"Great." I replied subtly, trying to end the conversation.
"Oh that's great! I've had a great day myself! The sun shining, bright sky, I think it's going to be a great day!"
Stop saying great. I thought, frustrated, refraining myself from talking in his head and telling him that telepathically to shut him up.
"What's on the agenda today Miss?" Terrance asked, still with a cheerful tone.
"Nothing much." I responded quickly, tempted to use telepathy to knock him unconscious.
"Oh, Ok, I was just wondering if we were going to be-"
"You know Terrance," I started, cutting him off before he could go into a lecture of his favourite time periods. "I think I remember telling Mr Ozbreed he could join today's history lesson, why don't you run down and grab him?"
Terrance's face lit up and he instantly saluted, (I always found that weird, maybe he did it because he thought that was polite), before running out the door. As soon as he rounded the corner though, Rylan walked through the classroom door.
"Oh, my, god, my effing pc, did my head in!" He says, sitting on a desk, head in hands, the elbows of his dark gray sweater, impales his black jeans. The open black collar of his shirt coveres his neck as he shrinks into himself, he crosses his legs onto the desk, his head still in his hands. His black Dock Martins scrape on the desk. He runs a hand over his aqua hair, which for once is plastered to his head, back from his face, his green eyes shine from his face, his pale face. His freckles make him look younger than he actually is, the same age as me nineteen.
"What did they do?" I asked with a small smile, sitting on my desk and drinking my morning coffee.
"One for one thing, they breathed." He says, rolling his eyes.
Chuckling, I passed Rylan another cup of coffee I had waiting. "Sadly, we can't stop the humans from breathing, though I would very much like to."
He looks at the wall behind me and starts speaking, what it looks like, to the wall.
"Well we could kill them, not like anyone would care." He says taking the coffee.
I raised my eyebrow at Rylan and straightened my black jacket again before shaking my head. "You know we can't kill them."
"But that would be fun," he says, trying to hold back a smile back.
I shook my head again, a small smile gracing my face and the ring of the bell was heard overhead. As soon as the bell went, Terrance ran back in the door, other students strolling in behind him.
"I'm sorry miss!" He basically shouted out. "I couldn't find-" Spotting Rylan he stopped.
"Oh, er... Sorry lad but, Mr Ozbreed came in while you were gone."
Terrance nodded before turning on Ry with a giant smile (damn it Terrance it's too early in the morning, put those teeth away it's too bright).
"Good morning Mr Ozbreed, how are you this fine morning?"
"I'm, brilliant," he says, sarcastically, "and who are you?"
Terrance didn't seem to notice Ry's sarcasm as he still kept smiling (I kid you not, I pulled out my black sunglasses that I kept in my hoodies pocket). "Well, Mr Ozbreed, I'm Terrance Waters. It's an absolute pleasure to meet you! I've heard heaps about you, but then again I know a lot about every teacher."
"That's not creepy," he says to him, "so what do you know about me?" Rylan smiles.
I shook my head and looked at Rylan.
Now he's not going to shut up. I told Rylan using my telepathy. You know how rare it is for him to do that?
"I know that you teach English and Religion. I know you and Miss Neptune have been friends for a while. I know that you wore black socks yesterday. I also know that Mr Walker often forgets to wear his-"
"Terrance, why don't you go sit down?" I asked Terrance hearing where his train of thought was going.
"Yes ma'am!" He said with another grin (I'm going to have to sew this kids mouth shut before he blinds me) before running off to his seat.
"That dude is effed up mate," Rylan says, looking at me.
I gave him a small smile once again. Don't I know it. I telepathically told him before standing up to address the class.
"Good mornin' class!" I told the class, looking around the room. "Today we have a guest with us - Mr Ozbreed - who has agreed to help in teaching the class today. Please make him feel welcome."
A few people around the room then proceeded to give some sort of welcome (David, snickering and showing off your middle finger isn't a welcome) before they turned their attention back to whatever they were doing. I sighed before grabbing a whiteboard marker and writing up the lesson plan.
Seeing that no one was listening, I smiled sweetly and turned to the class. "So, now you have all the information you need ready for the test tomorrow."
Looking around and seeing half the class start either one - choking on the gum they were chewing, two - falling out of their seats, or three - staring blankly ahead with the classic 'oh shit, oh shit, of shit' face, I grinned at them.
"Now your listening."
With a smile, I turned to Rylan. "Would you like to explain what I was just saying to them?"
"Ah, I wasn't listening either," he says, smiling uncomfortably at me.
All I did was sigh before shaking my head slightly, hearing a few people snicker.
"What I was saying," I began, looking at the class with my green - silver eyes. "Was that we will be studying the reign of Emperor Dextrus."
(No f*cking clue who this guy is. Don't search him up he's not real as far as I know)
"Who was a well loved Emperor of Rome in the early life of Romans and was well known for his love of bear fights."
(Bears are fabulous. Don't make them fight each other, they make good honey)
"He also improved the water system-"
(Probably drowned in such water system)
"-but he did destroy one of the Roman Gods - Neptune's great temples."
(Neptune is a real Roman God. His counterpart is Poseidon the Greek God. God of the sea. Great guy. )
"Now, if you go on your iPads you should see an email I sent you. It's got all of today's class work of it and it should take you until next class to finish it. If you do manage to finish it, I'll give you 'silent studying' time."
The class all quickly moved into work and I sat down in my desk chair, moving another chair for Rylan. After waiting three minutes for the class to settle, I put my light blue and white earphones in and I plugged them into my black cased phone, loading up the Atari game - Centipede.
"Mate? Really? You're the teacher! Though I must admit I watch vines while my kids are working," Rylan says, staring at my phone.
I smiled at him and as I was about to reply, I head the familiar sound of my character dying. Turning back to the screen, I saw the words 'GAME OVER' displayed in red while the blue pixel spider sat proudly where I was previously standing.
That bastard.
Quickly I reloaded my game and continued shooting the green centipede while avoiding the spider, scorpion and flea. Level nine - I was shooting the scorpion heading towards me before dodging the spider, then I shot more of the centipede, reducing it to nothing. Six parts left, five parts left, four parts, three parts, now two -
"Miss, can I go to the bathroom?"
A mis-click and my character was bitten by the spider - resulting in the death of my character and the loss of the game. Slowly, I placed my phone down before turning to the speaker. I had already taken my earphones out and I was comfortably sitting in my chair while Rylan stared expertly into space.
Spotting the speaker - a brown eyed boy with messy black hair who was the most annoying person in my class and the person who never did their homework, listen, or actually use their brain (if they even have one).
Summing up as much kindness as I could, I turned to him, my hand vibrating at super speed behind my back, barely controlling my anger. "Edward if you've noticed, class just began. Could you wait?"
"Not really."
(I'm going to murder this kid one day I swear)
"Well, you're going to have to wait 'cause you're not going out."
Moving my red hair out of my face (only for it to fall back down) I turned back to my phone with a frown. Instead of continuing with my centipede game right at that moment, I decided to listen on in other people thoughts and before you think this is an invasion of privacy, it's not. I'm a telepath. We're allowed to read other peoples minds.
Turning to Terrance, I listened to his thoughts first.
This is going to be so much fun! Emperor Dextrus is amazing! I've read all seventy-eight biography's and theory's written about him! He's-
Yup, that's when I stop listening... Wait, that guys an actual Emperor?
I reached out with my mind more and listened to other people's minds.
I wonder what ma's cooking for dinner, her foods always...
...I'm hungry! When's recess...
...I hope I am not being too obvious, I can't let Edward know I like him... I look at the person that just thought that and realise it is David - another boy in my class who Rylan has continuously told me is gay. Of course he was right. Raising my eyebrows, I move on.
...I hope Miss doesn't mind that I forgot to do my homework!...
...this is going to take a while...
...woah, that spiders so cool...
I tuned out feeling bored and I decided to entertain myself. Smiling slightly, I took a sip of my coffee.
Hey Ry-Ry, I'm bored... I told Rylan, sending him a telepathic connection.
... CO2 + H=>CO2H, how the fuck did she- oh hi..
I held in my giggle and took another sip of coffee.
Ry-Ry I'm bored~ I told him in a singsong voice.
...nice to meet you bored, I'm Rylan- so the alchemical symbol for silver is in moon and the one for- oh that brick is weird- and the one for gold is sun...
I smiled slightly behind my coffee and shut my eyes for a moment, taking in the comforting smell.
What the hell are you thinking about? I asked him while subconsciously sending my feelings of amusement.
...I was bored, and I have the exam next week, leave me alone... Rylan said, smiling.
Still hiding my smile behind my coffee, I looked up at Rylan through the corner of my eyes. Okaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy, okey dokey... Yup, certainly I'll leave you alone. 100%... For sure, a-lone... a-l-o-n-e...
... you're a bully... Rylan thinks, making his thoughts sound like Nick's voice from Love, Simon.
Giggling in my head, I left Rylan alone and was once again surrounded by boredom.
"Hey Miss?"
I shouldn't have thought that.
"Yes Edward? Did you need something?" I asked, not even bothering to hide the annoyance in my voice.
"I need the bathroom."
(I'm going to strangle him slowly)
"Class started a few minutes ago, could you wait?"
"I don't think so."
(Maybe I'll vibrate my hand through his chest and crush his heart)
"Then you should have gone earlier."
"But I really need to go."
(Or maybe I'll show him his worst fears before killing him of freight)
"Look," Rylan starts, "how about you think if you really need to go?"
"I did think and I-"
Using my telepathy, I went inside his head.
You don't really need to go to the bathroom... you can wait... maybe this was just another stupid idea...
I felt his mind succumb to the idea I had implanted and I exited his mind with a slight smile.
"You know, maybe I can wait." Slowly, Edward turned back to his work and I gave a small smile.
Thanks for reminding me. I told Ry-Ry with a slight smile. He's really been annoying me.
...chop off his head then you won't have to deal with him...
I sent waves of amusement to Ry-Ry before speaking. I'm afraid I can't do that. I'll probably get in big trouble. Also, I can't blow my cover.
...fine...
I turned back to my work and for the next twenty minutes, my students worked, asking few questions and Ry-Ry sat besides me. For the next twenty minutes all was quiet and calm with no interruptions. No annoyances, no... nothing. Everything was-
Hey Neptune. Hey Neptune. Hey Neptune. Hey Neptune.
That piece of-
Andromeda~ Oh, Andromeda~ I'm bored~
I swear I'm going to kill him.
Who 'he' is? You might ask. Well, he, is no other than my friend Smith. I've known Smith since I was about ten. I met Smith one day when I was wandering away from my tree house and I could hear a voice calling to me. Low and behold, I followed the voice, met my dear old friend Smith and took him back to my tree house in the forest where I lived. (Yes, I lived in a forest, my parents died when I was young, where else was I meant to live?) There is one odd thing about Smith though, he's not exactly living. He's a skeleton about a century or two old from the Victorian era who wears a white collared dress shirt, black pants, shiny black shoes, a black vest over the shirt, black bow tie, dark grey long coat and to top it all off, a black top hat with white ribbon around it. Occasionally you will also see Smith carrying around a black cane with a bird on the hilt. It's not actually a cane. It's got an Italian style rapier in it that Smith has told me countless times that he fought with it against monstrous beasts and vile people. Smith also doesn't like to talk much so, due to me being a telepath, he broadcasts his thoughts through my head and man can he be annoying but, I grew up with him so I've learnt to get used to it.
Neptune~ Smith spoke once again in a sing-song voice.
Oh, and he only ever calls me Neptune or Andromeda as he says 'it is only polite' to do so.
What?
I've already told you, I'm bored.
I sighed slightly through my nose and shook my head.
Damn that annoying, talking skeleton.
I can still hear you~
SHUT UP, I'M TRYING TO WORK.
There was a brief pause before Smith piped up again.
By working, do you mean playing games?
...
NO... MAYBE...
Andromeda~ Come on, can't we play a game? Or maybe, I could even give you advice on how to kill that annoying-
Smith, for the last time, I don't need advise on how to kill and I don't want your advice on how to kill.
But Andromeda-
I slammed down a mental wall in my head, efficiently silencing Smith's endless blabbering. I sat there for a while, just looking at my phone and watching the centipede race around before I stopped. I watched the centipede a while longer before sighing again and letting the centipede kill me. I got rid of my mental wall.
... Hey Smith...
Finally got bored, eh?
I swear I'll throw down a mental wall again.
Ok! Ok! No need to get cranky.
I raised my eyebrow at him mentally while to anyone else it looked like I was staring at my screen.
So... did you want-
No advise. I quickly interrupted him, not realising I had a frown on my face that others could see.
Oh, come on Neptune! My advise isn't always bad, is it? Remember that time at the museum-
That time at the museum, I took your advice 'cause the guy had an electric baton and was coming straight at me. Before you go saying it was my fault, it was not. How was I meant to know the museum had closed for the night?
By listening to the lady on the intercom.
I snorted, receiving a few odd looks and I quickly silenced myself after giving a fleeting glance at my class.
How long are you going to be teaching? Smiths voice carried boredom from where he was in my little flat off campus.
A few hours... why? I raised my eyebrow at him mentally and sent waves of suspicion.
I heard him scoff before he answered. No need to be so worried, Andromeda. I didn't blow up the house or anything.
Did you set fire to anything?
No.
Brake anything?
Nope.
Let any strangers into the house?
Do you really think someone would come into a house when a skeleton answers the door?
I paused my interrogation for a moment to turn to Rylan.
"If you went to some strangers house," I began with a low voice. "Would you go in the house if a skeleton answered the door?"
"Well, I have many friends of different species, being a vampire yes, a human would probably start screaming and running around telling everyone in hearing distance, why?" He responds, looking out the window.
"Smith just pointed that out when I asked him if he'd let anyone into the house."
"Who the hells Smith?" I hear Edward shout from besides me.
(How the hell did he move so fast, that piece of-)
"Her boyfriend!" Rylan yells.
(Wait- what?)
My head swung around to stare at Rylan while the rest of the class stared at me. I stared at him for a few moments before turning back to see the rest of the classes staring gazes.
Son of a-
"Miss, you have a boyfriend?!" Terrance asked shocked, probably at the fact that he didn't know something as he liked to know everything about everyone.
You're welcome hunny, Rylan says in my head.
I sent waves of emotion, promising revenge to Rylan before smiling at Terrance. I stared for a few seconds, not knowing what to say though for Terrance it was probably only a second or two as my super speed had involuntarily activated.
"Erm..." I began, once again sending waves of revenge to Rylan.
(I swear to god I'll get my revenge for this.)
"Uh..." I glared at Rylan one more time before turning back to Terrance. "Yup, definitely."
(Oh, the pain of those words coming out of my mouth. I'll get my damn revenge Ry-Ry. Mark. My. Words.)
Terrance stared a moment longer before opening his mouth to speak, only to be cut off.
"Oh my god! Really?!"
Not them. Sweet Gods above, please no.
I turned to look at the group of girls who loved to gossip. Who were also extremely annoying and who didn't know when to shut up. There were four of them and they all looked like barbie dolls with their plastic faces (literally, I think I saw one putting on this weird plastic mask thing just a day or two ago) and odd clothes. They were all also staring at me.
(Well... shit)
I was desperately thinking at super speed of what to do before the bell rang overhead making me sigh and smile widely, ushering everyone out of the class after jumping out of my seat.
"Class dismissed! Get out!"
I quickly pushed everyone out, blessing the Gods for not having class next and I whipped around to stare at Ry-Ry.
"Hello," he says, smirking.
I ran over to him at super speed and I started firing insults so fast that they were not comprehensible  before slowing down and glaring.
"Screw you!" I screeched at him.
"Bien, Merde," he says, laughing, "Is that all you can come up with?"
I continued to glare before throwing my hands up. "My boyfriend?!" I hissed out through my teeth. "Smith. My boyfriend?! What demon possessed you?!"
I whipped around again and landed in my chair, grumbling the whole time.
Smith's gonna get a good damn laugh out of this. He's never gonna let me live this down...
Once again, I turned to glare at Rylan. "Screw. You."
"Oh come on it's not that bad, you could've denied it," Rylan says leaning against the teachers desk.
I froze for a moment and opened my mouth only to shut it again. I'm pretty sure I looked like a fish.
Why the hell didn't I think of that?
I turned, looking at Rylan again. "I... w-well... shut up." I turned around and crossed my arms with a huff. Damn him. Damn him and his-
"Hi Miss!"
(Oh what now?!)
I whipped my head around and spotted Terrance standing in the doorway with his arms full of books, a grin on his face and his eyes sparkled with the want of knowledge.
This was going to be a long free lesson.
