The rising sun peeked in through the curtains of my room, blinking the brightness away I opened my eyes. Sleepily climbing out of bed, I wander to the room my parents allowed Asher to stay in. The door creaked open, revealing no one in the bed. I wander through the house, searching and finding no one.
Giving up and changing into my school clothes, I left the house for the hospital. There was a feeling deep inside saying that Asher had visited my brother. Even though, the deal was to keep him alive; there was something about him I knew couldn't be trusted.
Upon arriving to the hospital, the doctor was exiting Xavier's room, when he spotted me the doctor asked if he could speak with me for a moment. "Your brother's condition hasn't declined any, but it hasn't gotten any better. He's pretty responsive to some of the tests we do, so I have some sort of hope he'll make it through this," The doctor explained.
"That is a relief to here." I said. I knew what the real way to get my brother to recover and that was by making a deal with death. The doctor nodded his head, turned and walked away when his name was called over the intercom system.
I walked in my brother's room, there was no sign of Asher here either. I walked over to my brother's bed and gently kissed him on his head. A few muscles in his arm tensed up then relaxed. "I'll be back later," I stated as I exited the room.
Pulling my phone out of the back pocket of my white skinny jeans, I looked at the time '7:56'. I only had about fifteen minutes to get to school and get to class. I quickly walked to my car, placed my phone in the glove box, and rushed to school.
I quickly arrived at school, with five minutes before the morning bell rung. Grabbing my bag from the passenger seat and my phone from the glove box, I quickly rushed into school and to class. Some of my friends would yell at me as I passed by, trying to get my attention, but I had to see if Asher was there.
When I got into the classroom, there was no sign of Asher, I let out a loud sigh as one of my friends took his seat. "Where's new kid?" She questioned.
I looked around, watching to see if he'd walk through the door. "I have no idea, Kenze," I stated looking back at my friend.
"I was hoping to get to meet him, but you just want to keep him all to yourself, every time I see him he’s with you." Mackenzie joked as her brown eyes sparkled with happiness. She flicked her breast length, auburn hair over her shoulder while she began to laugh at her own joke.
I let out an uncomfortable laugh. "Trust me I really don't want him all to myself," I stated bluntly.
Mackenzie began to laugh again, but stopped when she noticed the seriousness on my face. "How could you not want him all to yourself? That dude is a cutie."
"Asher isn't really all that cute personality wise." Mackenzie nodded her head understandingly, the sparkle in her brown eyes had dulled down. I tugged on my grey v-neck shirt, feeling the awkwardness between us two.
“How do you know him?” She questioned.
That was what I had been dreading, lying to my friends and everyone around me. I shrugged and glanced away from her. “Just a friend of the family’s he’s staying at our house for a while and my parents told me to hang out with him.”
Mackenzie's eyes widened and she nodded in understanding. “You are so lucky to have him staying at your house I wish I could have a hot slice like him at my house.” She winked at me making me feel uncomfortable.
I gave her an uneasy chuckle and shook my head, “Trust me it’s definitely not as you would imagine.”
She just giggled and shook her head. “Well I better get going back to my seat, I'll catch up with you later," she stated getting up and leaving. As soon as she left, the morning bell rung.
