In retrospect you should've known your knees would have suffered from scraps, Kai's violent pull combined with your own ghost's shove messed them up largely. Though as you walked with the trio beside you, you really couldn't bring yourself to point out the fact.

So you walked with a minor grimace and dealt with the knees hidden behind your sweatpants, only happy at the fact that you didn't decide to wear that skirt like you had planned too. Your instincts once again proving to be the best once more.

"Alright we're almost to the shop..." Maeko broke the rather awkward silence that had lingered for maybe two blocks now. You were glad that she finally broke it seeing as Yuuto and yourself sucked at any sort of conversation starter. Especially after your near death experience mere minutes before. "If you need help  reading the menu again (F.N) just let me know okay?" Maeko's smile calmed you down knowing full well of your anxiety when it came to ordering.

You weren't always like this.

A rough pat on the head from Yuuto ceased the sudden thought, as if the boy knew exactly when you got into your moods. "C'mon twerp you'll eat some more noodles or whatever."

"Do you have any preferred foods?" Kai questioned watching Yuuto ruffle your hair even more, your eyes were shut in clear annoyance much to the duo's amusement. "No offense but you don't exactly sound native....you mispronounce some words." He shifted on his feet when Maeko cheered  about it being right up ahead.

You shrugged feeling a bit of embarrassment warm your cheeks at being called out, "I moved away when I was young to America..." Cover stories are hard and you already could feel that saying you were from America was a horrible move. Nonetheless you couldn't change it now. "I forgot how to speak over the years."

Kai nodded in understanding, eyes flickering to Maeko who ran to the store across the street. Yuuto immediately scolding her for not checking the sign to see if she could go. The three of you crossed as well, Yuuto being especially careful in checking both sides before urging you along.

Maeko entered the shop as soon as you three made it across, leaving you all to follow her steps quickly. You took in the rather small shop, the lights strung up gave it a neat aesthetic and it appeared very busy despite how small it was. Yuuto moved quickly too, already accustomed to the usual busyness of the shop during lunch hours, he nodded for you to come over.

You tried to follow after, murmuring apologies to the men who were seated in the front. Careful to avoid touching their suits and to not bump your knees against anything. They were numb from the pain now but you really didn't need to hurt them once more.

As you followed behind Yuuto who was grumbling about his sister, you caught a snippet of the news program.

"The American ajin........almost two years.....sightings reported in......Japan." She spoke too fast for your liking, something that hindered you from knowing what she was saying fully. Yuuto though spared you a glance, before peering back to the screen, eyebrows furrowed together.

Both the announcement of an Ajin and Yuuto's unnerved gaze didn't help calm your already fried nerves. You knew you had to calm down though, Maeko's dad had urged you to not think too much.

Easier said then done you suppose.

A hand on your back caused you to flinch, as you turned around you caught Kai smiling, "It's just me, sorry for the scare. You ready to eat some great food? Yuuto takes me out to this shop once in a blue moon and it's neat to have another person to join."  He didn't seem to mind the lively restaurant and seemed to blend in rather well with the others.

"Y-yeah I haven't eaten out often, but when I did it was in Tokyo which is a bit out of our ways" You answered Kai who nodded to that. "I kinda like Tokyo, I like the city..."
