THE BELLE DANCER

The darkness enveloped me tight,

Sleep forsook me that night,

A cool breeze blew,

To terrace, I went,

And found,

A wingless angel,

To behold, she was a sight,

Dancing in the moonlight.

Gracefully, she was moving,

Twisting and turning,

To a belle music,

And as she span,

Her dress fanned out,

The color unknown,

As it turned silver,

Like the moon, shimmering,

She was breath taking.

That day, the table turned,

Of her, I grew fond,

I forsook sleep,

As I stayed up late,

To watch her dance,

Till she saw me,

Got a fright; took a flight,

Never she returned,

The wish to see her burned.

And I understood,

I became, (As I brood),

An insomniac; a lunatic,

And she, my med,

Waiting for her; her dance,

For my addiction,

To come back,

I loved her as I could,

Every night, waiting, I stood.
