Rachel's POV:

I opened my eyes and saw I was in an unfamiliar room. I started panicking and sat up quickly, making me dizzy. A blonde haired face appeared next to me.

'you alri, Rachel?' he asked, his genuine concern touched me. I racked my brain searching for a name. Niall. That was it.

'I've been better I guess.' I said. 'what happened?'

'well, you passed out at the airport and the paramedics said to bring you home to rest. and well, here we are, so yeah.'

'oh' I said, I wasn't really sure how to react.

'yeah, they said it was because you hadn't eaten enough.' he said.

'oh.' I said again, his piercing blue eyes stared at me, clearly expecting an explanation. God, I hope I can act. 'well, you see, I'm scared of flying so I was too nervous to eat brekky.' I smiled meakly, hoping it didn't look too forced.

'well, I'll tell Amanda you're awake and get you some soup.' he said and left the room.

he seems nice... he might just be polite though. Was he waiting for me to wake up? Why would he? Questions ran through my head. Amanda bustled through the door with a big bowl of soup and some bread.

'hey sweetie, Nialler told me you were awake so I brought you some food. You feeling alright?' she smiled sweetly.

'I'm alright now.' I said giving her a small (fake) smile. She sat on the bed and passed me the hot soup. I looked down at it. I don't even remember the least time I ate. I was never going to be able to keep this down.

Amanda was waiting for me to start eating. I took a deep breath and picked up the spoon. I slurped some soup off it and gave another fake smile to Amanda. I swallowed and felt the liquid slide down my throat. It felt uncomfortable and I tried not to gag.

'yum.' i smiled meekly at Amanda. She looked satisfied and stood up.

'alright, I'll let you eat in peace.' she said, 'just yell out if you need anything.' She left the room.

I put the soup on the bedside table and fell back to sleep.

Niall's POV:

I peeked in the room to check on Rachel. she was asleep. I noticed the bowl of soup beside her, it didn't look like she'd touched it. I crept in and watched her. She looked so peaceful and calm.

'shit, I'm being a creep.' I thought. I must have said it out loud cause she sat up.

'Niall?' she asked, confused.

'hey, I was just coming to get the dishes. Didn't you like the soup?' I asked.

Guilt flashed through her eyes as she lied to me. 'err- I'm allergic to carrots.'

I knew that wasn't true. 'what's wrong?' I asked her.

'nothing.' she answered, a little too quickly.

'alright, but just so you know, you can tell me anything. I can keep a secret.' I said, crossing my heart as I said it.

'I'm just not hungry.' She laughed.

'alright then, but if you ever need to talk, I'll be here, kay?'

she nodded, 'thanks.' I picked up the bowl and left.

Rachel's POV:

Why was this boy being so friendly? and why hasn't he asked me why I'm here? normally people either ignore me, or treat me like an injured baby duckling.

Not Niall though.

Maybe it would be good to talk to him. Seeing as he was the only one who treated me like a normal person. I considered it, maybe he would actually listen. He seems pretty easygoing. I would have to get to know him first though. I made a conscious decision to get to know Niall.
