In a class, may rankings. Students strive hard to get to the top to be called the best student. But only one student gets the first place. And by the time comes that someone asks who got the first place, most wouldn't bother asking who ranked second, third, and so on. Laging yung una lang ang tinatanong.

I've been thinking about the decision I made a month back. Ako ang maga-ayos ng engagement party ni Clarence kapalit ng magandang sweldo, unlimited supply ng gatas ng future babies ko... at ang paglayo niya sa akin.

Ayan naman ang gusto mo Karen, diba? Ang lumayo si Clarence sa'yo. Kasi no Clarence means:

b) no saging na may condensada drama

c) no Karen falling in love with him.

Clarence is a good guy and a handsome one. Actually, handsome is an understatement. Kahit yata mag-wacky face pa siya, gwapo pa rin eh. Sinong nagsabing nage-exist pa ang Maria Clara kung si Clarence Perez ang kaharap mo? Wala. Nganga.

Natigil ang mala-dyosang pag-iisip ko nang tumunog yung cellphone ko. I looked at who it was and saw his name on the caller ID.

Calling: Xavier Chavez

"Hello?"

"Hi, Lola. Mamaya, ha? Aasahan kita dun."

I nodded, as if naman makikita niya diba? Shunga talaga, Karen "Ah, oo naman. 2pm, Seaside diba? I'll be there."

"Yes, Lola. See you later. I miss you."

Namula ako sa sinabi niya. Miss? Eh parang hinatid niya lang ako kagabi dito sa condo.

"Sira. Sige na, kita na lang tayo mamaya."

I ended the call and placed it on my bedside table. Humiga ulit ako sa kama at tumingin sa ceiling.

One month nang nanliligaw sa akin si Xavier. Yes, nanliligaw. I decided to give him a chance. To give US a chance. Sabi ko nga, I wouldn't settle for second best if I could be someone else's best.

I won't deny it. Sweet si Xavier pero hindi yung sweet na ang sarap nang ipalapa sa langgam. He's caring and he never fails to make me feel loved and cared. Every time na magkikita kami ni Clarence to discuss about his engagement with Jessica (pwe), X makes sure na masusundo niya ako para ihatid pauwi. Kahit na nag-escalate na mula sa friend to manliligaw ang status niya, hindi pa rin nawawala yung kulitan at asaran naming dalawa.
