So here it is, the start of my boring summer. Always staying home and babysitting, hoping someone with come around and keep me company besides my brother, and having faith that my mom will come home with a guy she will actually remember the next day. It is currently 2:00 in the morning after the last day of school and I am sitting on my couch watching an "Awkward" marathon. I heard a knock at the door and expecting it to be my mom, I quickly opened it. Instead of seeing my mom, I saw Cameron at my door. "Um, why are you here?" I asked sounding a more bitter then I intended. Cameron was the only one that I could stand in Jack's whole group of friends. He was the only one who I felt was actually living on earth, and not in their own conceided world. "It's about Jack," Cam replied with an uneasy look on his face. "Can I come in?" I opened the door a little more, as a gesture for him to enter and we both sat on the couch. Before I could tell him to speak, Cam took matters into his own hands and began to tell me right away what happened. "Okay so I'm not sure if you knew, but there was a party at my house, considering it was the last day of school," he began. I nodded even though I was never informed by Jack or anyone about Cam's party. "So Jack got pretty wasted and I was walking into the kitchen to go find Taylor who is reckless when he's drunk, so I was making sure he was okay. So as I went to find Taylor, I bumped into this drunk blond girl and she spilled her drink on me. So i headed upstairs to my room to change into a different shirt and I caught Jack, shirtless, hovering over a helpless, drunken brunette who was only still wearing half of her dress." My jaw dropped in shock. I couldn't believe Jack did that. "And listen, Jelly. I was never allowed to tell you this, because Jack told me if I did, he'd screw me up and I don't want to get in a fight with him, but this isn't the first time. I have seen him making out with girls left and right at parties." Just as Cameron finished his last word, the door opened revealing my sober mother. I was in complete shock at the fact that she wasn't drunk, but behind her trailed a man. "Hey, Mom," I greeted her. "Hey sweetie, Who's this?" she asked. "This is Cameron," I replied still on the verdge of tears from what he had told me a few minutes ago. "Hey, Mr. Grier," Cameron said greeting the man behind my mother. I was shocked at how he knew the man, but then it hit me a little late. Mr. Grier was obviously Nash's father. "Oh well, um it's getting late, maybe he should hit the road," she said pointing to the door with her thumb. I was pretty pissed that she was kicking him out of the house when I stay home every night for her, but considering my mood right now, I stood up and said "He was actually just leaving." Cameron said his goodbyes and left as my mother excitedly waited for the door to close. "Honey, I have a surprise." I looked at her with hopeful eyes, that maybe she settled down, but I was also dreading that it could have been Nash's dad. "This is Chad, and he's going to help me stay sober." I was releaved as hell. I wasn't going to have Nash's dad apart of my life, and my mom was going to be sober. Probably the best surprise you could give me.
