"I was supposed to wait until Christmas to give you this, but, well..."

Iris frowned as she turned to Dorcas. The brunette girl was running her expert finger through the incredible amount of clothes she had in her closet, before she smiled and gripped something.

"Right. Close your eyes." She urged, with a huge smile on her face.

"Dorky, what the bloody hell are you..."

"Just do it, please!"

"Alright, alright." Iris giggled at her best friend, before closing her eyes.

"Good, now, hands out. No, no... Both of them. Yeah, that's it." Dorcas giggled in anticipation, before she placed the surprise on her friend's outstretched hands. "Open your eyes."

And so she did. She looked at the gift in her hands and gasped. Right there, under her very touch, was the most amazing thing Iris had ever seen. A broomstick. And not any broomstick, no. It was...

"A Cleansweep Five." Dorcas voiced her thoughts, talking lowly, as if unsure if Iris' stunned reaction was good or not. "It's not the latest model, I know, but I was pretty tired of hearing you complaining about how you didn't have a broom and you had to borrow the school's ones and that your parents wouldn't..."

She stopped talking when she felt Iris' arms around her shoulders, squeezing her tight. The new broom fell to the floor with a loud thud, but in that moment, neither one of the girls cared. Dorcas hugged Iris back almost instantly and the red headed buried her face in the crook of her neck, trying to convince herself that the girl – or better yet, the angel – before her was actually real.

"That must have cost you a fortune." Iris mumbled.

"Oh, dear... Don't worry about the money." Dorcas shook her head, letting go of her friend.

"But I'll never be able to give you something like this, Dorky, I don't..."

"You don't have to give me anything." Dorcas interrupted Iris' speech, already knowing it would happen. She walked over to the new broom and picked it up, before giving it back to her new owner. "I see how happy Quidditch makes you, and even if I don't understand and – with no offence – don't give a damn about it either, just knowing that you'll be out there doing what you love with a present I gave you is enough for me."

"Dorky..."

"Shut up." The brunette shook her head. "And don't you dare don't go crying on me. Today's your day. You need to go and show them what you've got. Or you don't think James and Sirius will be there to see if you're actually as good as you make it seem."

"Yeah." Iris nodded, smiling brightly. "Yeah, you're right."

"Good, now, come on... Put on your gear so we can have some breakfast. I want you in shape so you can crush the Ravenclaws."

"For someone who said – and I quote – 'I don't give a damn about Quidditch', you're being quite passionate about it."

"I made a bet with Camilla." Dorcas shrugged. Now that was more like it. "I bet we would win."

"Milla bet against me?" Iris gasped jokingly, dramatically placing a hand over her heart. "Oh, we'll have a conversation about it later. But first..." She looked at Dorcas again and winked. "Let's win this bloody game."
