Iris finished giving her hair the last touches, before looking at herself in the bathroom mirror. She nodded, as if approving the way her flaming red hair fell in nice waves down her shoulders and her bright green eyes were highlighted by the black eyeliner Dorcas had forced in her. She also approved of the way the brunette had – unwillingly – covered all her freckles with makeup.

"You alive in there?" A voice she recognized as Glenda's called from outside the door before Iris heard some knocking. "There are people around here that need to pee."

"Sorry!" Iris answered with a giggle. "Coming out."

The red haired girl reached for the handle of the door and opened it. She had barely stepped foot outside the bathroom when Glenda rushed in. Iris and the rest of her roommates laughed.

"I still think you shouldn't hide your freckles." Dorcas said, as she looked her best friend up and down. She smiled a bit. She had handpicked the outfit herself. Iris was not much of a fashion enthusiastic, but Dorcas was. It wasn't much of an option, really. She was a Pureblood, and as such, she had been to a fair amount of important events, so she knew all about how to act and what to dress in all kinds of situations. And with her mother being a great dressmaker, she and Elsa – and even Quill – were drawn to that stuff since they were very young. "But I must say you're looking dashing this evening, Miss Evans."

"Why, thank you very much, Miss Meadowes." Iris bowed playfully toward her best friend. "Well, anyway... I'm going alright?"

"I want you back at eleven o'clock, Miss." Dorcas called, as Iris made her way toward the bedroom door.

"Oh, if I survive until then."

Dorcas laughed. Iris turned around just to wink at her before walking closing the door behind her and making her way out of the Hufflepuff Common Room. She walked toward the corridors she had grown so accustomed to over the last almost three years and went to the Dungeons, almost at the other side of the Castle, where Professor Slughorn's classroom was and, therefore, were his Christmas Party would be happening.

Iris stopped in front of the classrooms door and frowned at the silence, but as soon as she opened it, the roar of Christmas' Carrols and chatting almost overwhelmed her. She stood there, confused for a while, before a cheery voice brought her back to reality.

"Miss Evans! There you are! Come, come!" Professor Slughorn smiled widely at her and guided her further into the room, closing the door once more. "Here take one of these. Heard you're quite a fan of Pumpkin Juice, but this one is heavenly, dear." He kept talking as he gave a cup full of some liquid substance inside of it. "Oh, your sister is just over there."

"Hum... Oh, thank you, Professor..." She mumbled, trying to smile at the old man.

"Don't mention it." He smiled back at her. "Enjoy the party, will you?"

"Right. Of course. Thank you."

Slughorn brushed Iris' acknowledgments as if they were nothing and swiftly made her way toward another student the girl didn't recognize, probably from Slytherin. Iris shook her head, quite amused with the Professor, before glancing through the crowd and finally spotting the same bright red hair she had seen in her mirror mere minutes ago.

"Enjoying your time?" Iris asked once she was close enough, sitting on the chair beside Lily.

"Oh, yeah, a lot." The girl mumbled sarcastically, before turning to face her sister. Looking her up and down, she smirked, quite amused. "You're wearing make-up?"
