"Zayn?" Lauren asked rolling over to face him after they got finished having sex. "Yeah?" he asked pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Niall's your best friend, right?" Zayn raised an eyebrow.
"Can we not discuss my friends when we're naked under these sheets?" he joked, but he saw Lauren wasn't joking. "Yeah.. he's my best mate. Why?" Lauren shrugged.
"I don't know.. you don't seem so stressed out about his weird disappearance."
"I'm not stressed because I know he's fine. It's Niall, if Liam knew anything, he'd know that Niall broke things when he was stressed, and stayed at his mums. She probably picked him up and that's why his car was there. Do you really think a 21 year old would get kidnapped and the kidnapper would be like, "oh hold on, I know I'm in the midst of kidnapping you but let me not forget to lock your door so your friends know thats a sure fire way to prove you're in danger." No. That's stupid." Zayn said laying his head back on the pillow and looking up at the cieling.
Lauren layed her head on on Zayn's bare chest. He took it as s romantic gesture and started playing with Lauren's hair. Maybe a few weeks ago it would have been purely romantic, but right now she was doing it to listen to his heartbeat. It was beating at a regular pace. Either he was telling the truth, or he was just a really good liar. "Zayn?"
"Yes love?" he asked, his voice getting whispery because playing with hair usually made him sleepy. "Would you ever leave me for another girl?" she asked waiting for his heartbeat to pick up. "Never in a million years." It never did.
The following morning Lauren turned over and Zayn wasn't beside her. TYPICAL. she rolled out of bed, and went to the bathroom to fulfill her duties. What smelled like eggs, lured her to the kitchen. Instead of seeing Liam there, it was Zayn. "Good morning beautiful. You say I'm never here, so I proved you wrong." he smiled. "I was going to make you breakfast in bed, but you're not in bed anymore, so eat up." he placed a plate full of scrambled eggs, grapes, buttered toast, and sausage links. "Who would have known you could cook." Lauren smiled. Who would have known this is the last time Lauren would have a nice breakfast by her boyfriend. "There are a lot of things I haven't showed you yet."
"What are your plans for today?" Lauren asked crunching on a grape.
"Whatever your plans are." her smiled before shoving a fork full of eggs into his mouth. "Really?" Zayn nodded. "The other day you made a point. Your time here is dwindling down. I need to start taking that more serious." Lauren nodded with a half-hearted smile. Despite Zayn's sweetness, something was still going on with him, and she had to find out before she left.
"What's for breakfast?" Liam asked entering the kitchen. Lauren still couldn't look at him without picturing his dick hanging there between his legs. She cleared her throat and took a sip from her orange juice. "Nothing for you." Zayn answered stabbing into a sausage link. Liam nodded. "Alrighty then. I guess I'll head out to a diner, right." He pulled open the refridgerator and grabbed a bottle of water. "Has anyone heard from Niall yet?" he questioned. Lauren shook her head, and Zayn nodded.
"You heard from him? Where's he at?" Liam questioned.
"Just where I suspected him to be, at his mums." Liam nodded, relief washing over him.
"I suppose I was just overreacting.. Well, I'm going to head to the diner and then to my flat, clean it up a bit."
Once Liam was gone Lauren turned to her boyfriend. "Why didn't you tell me that Niall called?"
"Because he didn't. Anything to get that boy to shut up." Lauren's jaw dropped. "He's been driving me mad lately. I told him that Niall is just with his mum because he likely is, and he still wants to try and get the police involved."
"He's just worried.." Zayn dropped his fork and looked at me.
"There you go defending him."
"I'm not defending him I'm just-"
"Defending him." Zayn finished. He stood up and placed his dish in the sink.
"Do you really think he and I have something going on?" Lauren seriously asked. It was like she and Zayn would have something great happen between them, and then he'd flip about nothing, or she'd about something and it would continue on like that, just a repetitive circle.
"I don't know, I don't know what to think anymore." he said not bothering to face Lauren.
"Maybe I should leave early, like Ally did." she suddenly said as she stared at her boyfriends bare back. He sure payed attention to that. He turned around, panic evident in his eyes. "No! You can't leave me." he left the sink and made his way over to the table. "Please." he said taking hold of her hand, and squeezing it a little bit too tight.
"Well, I don't want to be here if all we're going do is fight." Lauren said. "Maybe going home will make us decide if this really is what we want."
Zayn stared at Lauren with wide eyes. "This is exactly what I want! I don't want anything or anyone else, you. That's it." Zayn said frantically. It was as though Lauren was the exact reason he was breathing, and her threatening to go home early was cutting off his oxygen flow.
"I just don't want to feel like theres a problem anymore. I don't want you to worry about Liam, I don't want you to think he and I are anything more than friends. Get rid of those thoughts." Lauren realized she probably sounded like a hypocrite suggesting such things. "I don't want to feel like there's a problem either, just me and you. No one else will ruin our happiness." Zayn had confidence and determination marking his words as he placed a kiss upon Lauren's lips.
It was later in evening, and Lauren was back at the boys flat with Camila. Zayn had gotten a call from Liam about getting his tools from the cabin so he can fix the hanging shelf in his flat. Zayn happily agreed. He stuck gloves on when he got back to cabin, and went into Liam's room where he grabbed Liam's tool box he kept by his bedside.
Zayn got to Liam's flat, and started banging on the door agressively. Liam pulled it open. "Hey thanks mate," he greeted Zayn. "Can you believe I was napping and that shelf gave out and everything on it fell, woke me up pretty fast." He walked over to the shelf that was hanging by one nail. Zayn quietly closed the door behind him. Liam grabbed some nails, and placed them on the floor beside him. "Mate, why are you wearing gloves? I know it's sort of chilly out but it's still Summer." Liam laughed. Zayn didn't say anything, he just thought of what Lauren said earlier at the table
"I just don't want to feel like theres a problem anymore. I don't want you to worry about Liam, I don't want you to think he and I are anything more than friends. Get rid of those thoughts." and then Zayn started thinking of all the times he had caught Liam and Lauren close.Get rid of those thoughts.
"Hey, do you think you can pass me the hammer?" Liam asked from across the living room. Zayn pulled open the tool box, and grabbed the hammer. He stared at it, and twirled it in his hand before making his way over to Liam.
