The Paper Boat
past contemplating fishermen
escaping for a day
amongst reeds and grasses
swaying in the flow
a small paper boat
weaves within
weeping willow strands
draping
testing waters
still not
snaring
she
out of breath
puffing
pushing friend in wheelchair
not meant for off road open air
pleased to be together
happy with each other
stop and comment
see the tiny paper boat
watch it float and turn and sail
till out of sight
sky lark
singing notes to those who'll listen
steals the teenage eyes from backlit screen
sitting in the shade bedside the river
sister shouts for him to intervene
awkward
bending
foot in water
mind meanders
musing techno themes
reaching out.....
......scooping up
a soggy paper boat
rescued from the shallows
someone sees some letters in the folds
under watchful parents eyes
carefully unfurled
a simple written message
finds a voice
'love and peace to everyone'
