Despite Dan's insistence that he would be careful with the cane, Arin couldn't help but feel anxious and moved all of the fragile items from the room before he allowed Dan to take even one step. Dan found Arin's flustered behaviour oddly amusing and giggled the whole time he heard him hurrying around the room. Finally he was given permission to move, which in itself was funny too; he felt like a child being told what to do by a parent.

"What should I do?" Dan asked when he had stopped laughing finally.

"What do you mean 'what should I do?' Just fucking walk! And try not to bump into anything," Arin replied, smiling as Dan stood confused in the middle of the room.

It was certainly a strange sight, especially with him holding a random white pole in his hand. It looked like they were going to have a very... interesting evening.

"It just feels weird, walking around a room for no reason," Dan explained, making a face.

"Think of it like your exploring, finding out where everything is. Like you're a dog or something... I dunno! Just walk goddammit!" Arin urged, adding more calmly, "And don't worry, I'll warn you if you're about to walk into a wall or something."

"Thanks for the assurance, Arin."

Dan held the cane near the top and held it out in front of him at an angle, the tip just touching the floor a few paces in front of him. He moved it from side to side slowly and was met by two obstacles, about a metre or so apart. Lifting the cane from the ground a bit he discovered another obstacle, this time blocking from above.

"Coffee table..." he muttered to himself.

Arin snorted across the room, giving him a sarcastic clap.

"Well done!"

"Shut up Arin."

Arin watched as Dan slowly moved away from the couch, moving the cane in front of him from side to side, in an arc that was a little wider than himself. His steps at first were slow and cautious, almost like a small child learning to walk for the first time. A smile crept onto Arin's lips as he couldn't help but think how adorable Dan looked, and he felt a strange warm fuzzy feeling all throughout his body.

As Dan neared the wall Arin opened his mouth to warn him, but was cut short by the sound of the cane making contact. Dan stopped and turned away, smiling.

"That's a wall," he said, his tone carrying a strange pride to it.

Once again Arin got the impression of a small child, impressed by such small achievements. He could already see Dan's steps growing larger and quicker, a new air of confidence in his strides. Even his shoulders were less tensed up. The whole thing looked more natural for him already as he walked in what was more or less a circle around the living room.

At some point he passed Arin, accidentally tapping his foot with the cane. Arin instinctively moved out of the way, and when Dan moved his cane back and was met with no obstacle it suddenly dawned on him what he'd hit. His head jerked up, making his hair bounce in an exaggerated motion.

"Oh, shit, I didn't realise how close you were. Hey, Arin," he said like they'd just run into each other on the street or something.

Arin looked into Dan's eyes and for a moment got lost in the pools of hazel. It was so strange that he couldn't see out of them, and yet they still looked so lively. There was undoubtedly something vacant and unfocused about them, but in a way that made them more beautiful. Arin felt himself blush.

What is this feeling?

"Arin? That is you, right?" Dan asked, reaching out with a hand and brushing the edge of Arin's nose.

"Oh, what? Yeah, sorry I just got distracted by something. Can you stop touching my face please?" Arin giggled, watching Dan's hand which was now taking a very long detour around every aspect of his features.

"Isn't this what blind people do to recognise their friends?" Dan replied with a stupid, childish grin.

Arin nudged him away.

"Okay, I think Suzy will be getting back soon. And I don't want my wife to walk in and the first thing she sees is you groping my face. I think you've explored enough for now."

"Aw, but I want to see the rest of the house!" whined Dan, pouting like a baby.

The easily-amused man only managed to hold the expression for a second before he was taken over by a fit of giggles at his own actions.

"Fine. What do you want to do?" he asked.

"I don't- oh, shit!"

"What's wrong?"

"I totally forgot to send that video to Matt and Ryan! Can you just chill in here for a sec while I go do that?" Arin explained, facepalming at his forgetfulness.

"Sure."

Dan heard Arin hurry from the room. At a pace that was almost normal for him, Dan made his way back to the couch and sat down, leaning his cane against the closest wall so that is was mostly out of the way.
