Chapter 6: Revelations

Years prior to the Holy Grail war

POV: ???

It was just another contract...Just an assignment that's how it should've been but no this job was different...nothing was ever the same after that day...

???: "Lilly you alright? you seem to be spacing out."

Kadoc L/N, my brother and member of our squad during missions. Something I've noticed is that his eyes are always scanning our surroundings like as if he was waiting for something pop out like the Bogeyman. Still it was a useful trait he possessed that I respected him for.

Lilly: "It's nothing to really worry about Kadoc."
Kadoc: "You haven't forgot why were here have you?"
???: "Kill all the Magus cultist and collect any runes we come across, no survivors."

Y/N L/N, also my brother and leader during field operations when father would give us contracts to fulfill for our clients. I somewhat idealized him not because he was my brother but for his skill in the field. Cold hearted, cunning, always thinking on his feet. Exploiting an enemy's weakness. A true Mage Killer! One that I strive to be.

Y/N: "Everyone into the elevator we got a mission to complete."

As we entered the elevator we took up formation with Y/N in the front while Kadoc and I took up the left and right positions behind Y/N inside of the elevator. As the elevator numbers kept decreasing Y/N pulled a knife out of his sleeve holding it in a reverse grip.

Kadoc: "Not using any magic?"
Y/N: "To easy."
Lilly: *Sighs* "So much for subtly."

*Ding*

Y/N: "It's showtime."

(High chaos)

As the elevator door opened Y/N rushed out of the elevator surprising two cultist members by the elevator door by elbowing the one on the left in the face stunning him then stabbing the other in the heart to his right killing him,  the cultist to Y/N's left tried to attack only for Y/N to get behind him and snapping the cultist neck dropping his lifeless body to the ground. The augmentations done to us Changed us, from our physical capabilities down to our personalities and memories. For Y/N however the augmentation had a different effect on him, it made him into a cold hearted killer that we regarded as a harbinger of death. Occasionally I would get these small glimpses or fragments of memories, they were memories of kids playing in the fields these memories weren't my own since I have no recollection of ever being in this setting, I thought it was a side effect from the augmentation so I asked Kadoc and Y/N if they had these same fragmented memories too. Kadoc would reply saying he's had no such memories. Y/N would reply with that being a Mage killer was all he ever was and all he will ever be, anything else was irrelevant to him.
