"Wakey,wakey."
I groaned as I heard a cold whisper in my left ear. I shifted in the rather uncomfortable chair I was sleeping on.
My head hurts so bad,it felt like dry concrete was been pushed down my brain by some wild rampaging elephant. Or maybe even worse."Wake up." Another chilly whisper, only this wasn't a whisper. This was a yell, one that shouted like a banshee's cry. Whoever this was needed to stop.
The shouts didn't help my headache and I had a feeling that waking up would only make the pounding in my head worse.
"Jeanette! Wake up!" The world shook or rather I was shaken and my eyes opened instantly.
My head stung but that was the least of my worries.Who turned out the lights?
The world was pitch black and lifeless.
Strange I don't remember being blind."What's going on?" I murmured to myself.
"Oops, my bad. Almost forgot to remove your blindfold."Slowly, the darkness gave wag to light and I could finally see,but suddenly I wished to be blindfolded again when I surveyed my surroundings. Definitely not what I had expected.
All this time I thought it was just Mary Ann,Iris and Ivy playing a stupid prank on me in my bedroom, but this was no prank. And this was definitely not my bedroom.
What I beheld wasn't my bedroom by a loooong shot. I was beyond shocked to see a wall which probably used to be red now grey with age and God knows what,it's paint peeling off. The zinc roof missing a lot of zinc sheets.(I didn't even know houses with zinc roofs still existed.)
The room smelled of burning tobacco and a tinge of soot. The room was dank and dark, except from the few rays of sunlight in the room from the semi opened roof.
Yep,definitely not my room.
"Where am I? What am I doing here."
"Oh darling, isn't it obvious?" I heard a cold snicker from a vaguely familiar voice.
"Who are you?""You really don't remember anything at all?"
"No I don't remember anything of importance...." I trailed off as I forced my banging brain to get to work.Slowly everything came back. My sister's problem, and how I was supposed to have lunch with someone and how we ended up in...
How could he? I trusted him and I almost...dare I say it...liked him.
"Chris" I murmured the name with as much venom as I could muster without causing myself a possible concussion or head stroke.
"Ah,you remember now. How delightful."
I turned to see the speaker but I couldn't manage doing this without breaking my neck."Who are you and where am I? Answer me!!" I screamed, rage surging through me at a powerful pace, I almost my blasted headache.
In response I got a laugh. Not a laugh of comical amusement,or a laugh that said 'I'm friendly and completely harmless'
No,this laugh chilled my bones to the very marrow. This laugh held dark untold promises and threats. This laugh sounded very familiar.
"Only been awake for less than thirty minutes and you're already barking orders. But if you truly wish to know who I am,then I shall grant you this wish."
I focused on the darkness in front of me,glaring at for refusing to show me anything. But I didn't have to wait for long, because out of the darkness slowly emerged a figure.
A figure that belonged to.....
"Mrs Philippe?" I gasped.
There standing right in front of me was Mrs Philippe alive and well. Dressed in a long flowing animal printed gown that reached her ankles. Grinning from ear to ear like the Cheshire cat.
