A few years have passed since the Harkinia family found me, three to be exact. I'm fourteen now, and Zelda's thirteen, she's turning fourteen this Christmas though. I already hit growth spurt, and now I was almost a head taller than Zelda. She didn't like it at first, since she was a little taller than me before, but she got used to it. We still share a room, but we have individual  beds now.

We've had every class together in school every year I've been here. Hank and Cassidy treat me like a son, and I consider them my parents at this point. However, I don't really know how to feel about Zelda. When I first got here, I considered her my sister, but then later I considered her my friend, and now, I don't know. She's been so kind to me, and everyone in school practically treats me like a loser.

They never actually adopted me, so I've always been a Gale. They asked me if I wanted them to, but I refused, and I don't know why. They are my family, but I guess I still want the memory of my original parents.

"Link! Wake up, sleepyhead," I heard Zelda call me. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes.

"Why wake up so early? It's summer, school's over, so is eighth grade," I said. Zelda narrowed her eyes and snatched away my blanket.

"Link, it's two in the afternoon, you have to wake up," she said. I hugged her and pulled her close to me.

"Please Zel! I wanna sleep more," I whined. She chuckled and pulled away, then she poked my nose and smiled warmly.

"Sorry, Link, but mom and dad want to talk about something," Zelda said. I stood up and rubbed my eye, still looking at her. I wrapped my good old blanket around my shoulders and yawned.

"Do you know what they want to talk about?" I asked. She shook her head and took my hand and took me downstairs. We could hear Cassidy and Hank arguing, and that had us worried. They never argued, at least not when they knew we could hear them. Zelda waved at them and they stopped arguing, and waved back. Me and Zelda sat down on the couch and both of them stood in front of us with frowns on their faces.

"Mom? Dad? What's wrong?" Zelda asked.

Cassidy and Hank glanced at each other, then back at Zelda, then at me. Cassidy took a deep breath and sighed.

"We're moving away," she said.

"Oh, that's not that bad, what were you arguing for?" I said.

"We're moving to the Mushroom Kingdom, so you can study in a better high school," Hank said. He then gave me a bag full of things, and it was heavy. I stared at it for a bit, then back at Hank."Unfortunately, it costs a lot more than we expected, so, we can take only one of you."

Wait.

No.

"Link, we're so sorry, but we have to give our daughter the best education possible," Cassidy said. Zelda gasped and her face was a mix of sadness and fury.

"No way! Let's just stay in Hyrule, it has pretty good education-"

"Zelda, we want the best for you, and the decision has already been made, we're moving in a week," Hank said. "We're dropping Link off in the orphanage, and he'll have the education here in Hyrule."

"No!" Zelda yelled. She wrapped her arms around my neck tightly, not wanting to let go. Tears rolled down her pale cheeks. "I'm not gonna let you do this! Link, I promise to convince them, I promise."

My family, my family is leaving me again. And in an orphanage, nonetheless. I'd prefer live in the streets than going there. I pushed Zelda off of me and grabbed the bag Hank gave me. I stood up and ran for the door.

"I hate you all! You're living me just like my family did. You don't care about me, you've been lying all this time," I yelled. I stormed out the door, running through Hyrule Field and back to my spot.

"Link! Link please, wait!" Zelda called after me. I ran faster, not turning back, not daring to. I felt tears run down my face, and I only ran faster. "I promise to come back to you Link! I'll find you, and we'll stay together! I promise!"

Psh, yeah right. My parents said the same thing when I was little, but they lied.

She's not coming back. And I'm not expecting her to. Liar.

He sat on the snow with one of his legs crossed over the other. He grabbed tighter on to his blanket as the freezing winter wind hit him. He didn't react at all. He looked at his hands, they were purple. Frostbite. His stomach growled, begging for food. He sneezed and looked down. He was shaking violently, and was freezing cold. He smacked his chapped lips, begging for something to drink. He tried moving closer to the corner of the walls, but he was too weak. He looked at his hair. It wasn't even dirty blonde anymore, it was brown, covered with filth. It was also really long, past his shoulders. His shirt and pants were completely ruined, but at least it was something. He found those clothes in a trash can, and they've tried to kept him warm for probably months now. He still has the same blanket he had from when he first became homeless, which was many years ago, he was sure. He couldn't tell anymore, he lost track of time a while ago.

He's ready.

Goddesses, if you want to take him now, do it.

He gave up.

He's ready to die.

He has been for a while.

He began thinking about his life, clutching onto the happy memories he had. Then he began thinking about her. She had been so nice to him. She helped him. She tried to help him. And what did he do? He pushed her away. He yelled at her. And yet she made me that promise. She would come back to him. He's sure it's been many years, and he hasn't seen her once. And what he want to tell her the most is... Thank you, and I'm sorry. He just wants say that to her. But it seems that's not gonna happen.

He took a deep breath, hoping it would be his last, but it unfortunately wasn't. He looked down, just wanting it all to end.

He heard a small gasp, and the snow crunching. He saw a pair of brown boots stop in front of himself. He still didn't look up. The person leaned down and he felt them stare at me.

"Hey," a female voice said. He looked up through my bangs, without raising his head, and his eyes widen. It was her, and she's, older! Of course she's older, it's been years, that's for sure. But, she... she looks completely different. Her face got slimmer, her long brown hair was dotted with snowflakes, and her gunmetal blue eyes were worried.

"Are you okay?" She asked.
