The typing of computers resounded throughout the room, a few conversations floating up and into the air before drifting back to silence and keyboards and clicking. Staring at your computer, you blankly clicked through the multiple clients you had yet to reach. For Christ's sake, why do they seem to come in multiples on one day? Is it too hard to ask for a few every day instead of ten in one day and zero for the rest of the week?
The cubicle you sat in wasn't exactly small, but with all these people here it felt like it was. Almost like you were being closed in on all sides.
You paused, taking a deep breath and giving your eyes a break from the computer's screen. You glanced at the picture of you and your parents, the first day of college for you. It was a big step for everyone, especially for you. Moving away for miles and miles, in a completely new environment ... it was scary yeah, but freedom was just around the corner. But look where it lead you now. In a cubicle that felt too small and sore eyes from morning till afternoon.
"(Y/n)?" You, being startled, flinched as you whipped your head around, only to be met with Arron standing a few feet away. What did he need? "Tyler needed to speak to you in his office as soon as you get to a spot where you can stop for a bit." You felt your eyes shift away for a second. 'What would Tyler need to talk to me for? I don't even work under his supervision.' You molded your head, pointing a thumb over your shoulder. "Yeah no problem, let him know I'll be there in a few minutes." Arron smiled, giving a small wave of the hand. "Yup, no problem!"
You stared at the spot where Arron was, eyes unfocused, hands holding each other nervously. 'God... now what?'
A noise, something like a small crash, made your heart skip a beat as you jolted. Your hands gripped the arms of your chair as you held your breath. You listened as a voice started apologizing. "Sorry! Sorry! Let me help you-"
You felt your lungs let out a breath, one you didn't know you were holding anymore. Why were you acting like this? Giving you computer one last glance, you shot up from your chair, making your way to Tyler's office with the sounds of apologies being in the distance.

The last few weeks... they've been hell.
Something horrible was wrong, you just knew it. Work was stressful, driving home was terrifying, hell being at home itself held a feeling of utter dread. Something was wrong... but what was it? Were you being stalked? It would explain the constant paranoia... maybe you were getting sick? Who knew, maybe the new job you took on was getting to be a little too much on your mind. For god's sake, it wasn't even your department and you were supposed to fill in the gaps of the two that left the other day?
You stated out the window, watching as heavy rain battered against your living room window, lightning flashing and thunder rolling above. It's not like you really minded them, in fact, they were strangely pretty with the flashes lighting up the world like a giant phone taking a picture on flash.
From your kitchen, leftovers spun on the microwaves plate, humming floating into the room as you flipped through your phone on different sites. Work was going to be a shit show tomorrow and you should probably get to bed... but damn ... you were hungry.
'Wow, that's loud...' The thunder that came made the floor shake. It sounded more like a giant boom as it exploded through the grey clouds above. Outside was so dark you couldn't make out anything but the faint outlines of your trees and a light pole or two.
