A quarter-moon has passed. Prey is getting scarce, though its green-leaf. The rogues are still camping near the Moss Hollow, so the NightClan cats had to practice battle moves in camp.

All the warriors have now mastered the new battle moves, even Silverleaf, if the rogues attacked her. Mosswing and Skyflower had taught the kits some battle moves to take on a full grown cat at once, just in case the rogues break into camp.

The narrow path to camp has been sheltered by thick undergrowth, brambles and thorns, leaving only an even narrower path to camp, just enough for one warrior to squeeze through.

Silverleaf has been collecting more herbs, in case of a battle, and the nursery and medicine den entrance has been covered by ferns and ivy.

It has been decided that the kits would stay in the medicine cat den, with Silverleaf and Lilycloud, who sprained her paw while practicing battle moves. Lilycloud’s paw wouldn’t be fit to run for a moon, so she would stay in camp with Silverleaf and the kits to defend them.

Nightstar leapt up onto the Nightrock.

“All cats old enough to catch their own prey shall gather at the bottom of the Nightrock for a Clan meeting!” She yowled.

When the NightClan cats had gathered, Nightstar meowed. “A quarter-moon has passed. I will lead a patrol of six into the rogues’ camp to warn them that they could not stay here any longer today at sunset. I know there is less prey than before, but after we defeat these cats, we should have our prey and territory back.

“Most rogues that came here had been thin when they first arrived, but now patrols had noticed that they are gaining weight, and their bones aren’t showing anymore. They are stronger now, so we must do out best. As for the patrol, I will take Darkpelt, Foxclaw, Leopardheart, Skyflower, Tigerstripe and Mudfur. Blackcloud will be in charge when I’m gone. We will leave at sunset.” Nightstar finished.

“Blackcloud will organize the patrols. I want my six cats to come back before sunset so they could eat something and freshen up before we enter the rogues’ camp, just in case they started fighting us.” Nightstar leapt down the Nightrock and padded to her den. She had deliberately chosen her strongest cats to go with her, leaving Blackcloud behind to defend the camp.

At sunset, Nightstar had gathered all her six cats, and quickly gulped down a mouse. She had been too busy overlooking battle practice.

“Let’s go.” She told her patrol. They headed in the direction of the Moss Hollow, and Nightstar sniffed the air.

“This way.” Nightstar meowed, going towards the direction of the scent.

They stopped at the edge of a clearing, where bushes and trees covered them.

The camp was lit by the setting sun, and two huge toms, one white, one gray, sat on sun-warmed rocks, basking themselves and lazily washing, with half-eaten prey in front of them. Five more large cats sat nearby, again with half-eaten prey in front of them. There were no weak cats in sight except for the queens and kits.

“I told you they don't finish their prey” Tigerstripe whispered angrily.

“That’s Casper and Claws!” Skyflower hissed.

“We won’t go inside yet. I want to look around this place.” Nightstar ordered quietly.

She scanned the clearing, and noticed that right next to the rocks, are two huge nests, lined with moss, ferns and feathers, very comfortable looking. There are nests on thick branches of the trees, too, though they look much less comfortable, leafy and hard.
