Vampire Knight (Fan Fiction) Vol. 2 Chapter 9 Choices That Were Made

Headmaster’s POV:

I’m at the vampire hunter’s president’s office. “You don’t seem to have heard the summons to come. How’s Kiriyu’s kid? Do we really want to wait until it’s to late?” He asks me. “What are you saying? Zero is fine.” I say. “We will just wait for the report to come… I’ve sent Yagari to your school. If the report says dangerous we wont let him off…” He says. “Don’t worry. Cross Academy’s peace treaty can be very trusted.” I say as I walk out the door.

Yuuki’s POV:

Scary… I think as Zero slurps my blood. He squeezes my shirt. A vampire’s drinking my blood…so scary… Scary? But Zero is…? Zero finishes drinking me. He pants like a dog without water. He tumbles and falls back on the wall. “Zero… are you ok?” I ask. He looks at me blood dripping down his mouth. “I’m despicable… even though I hate vampires with all my heart…even though I don’t want to hurt people… I still can’t stop wanting blood. I’ve given up.” He says as he wipes away my blood on his hand. “I know that drinking fresh blood is only temporary. After drinking your blood…” He says. “Saying I’ve given up…that’s too much. You forgot our promise? That you would stop saying that? Even if you detest it, even if you hate me, I will tame the beast inside of you.” I promise him. “If you give up you vampire side will take over. Even if you hate me and vampires…you can’t give up!” I tell him. “It’s ok…to hate you?” He asks. “Well you tell Mizuki things…you don’t tell me…” I say feeling left out. “That’s because I…I really like her Yuuki…” Zero says. “I’ll do anything for her… and everything about her is beautiful… her voice…her singing…the way she handles horses…the way she looks…her smile…her laugh…”He says. “Anyway are you ok?” He asks. “Oh! Yeah I’m fine, I don’t lack blood. I’ve been really healthy. I’ll even go to school tomorrow like always.” I say. “You will come to school tomorrow!” I say. I walk outside to the Night Class and I see Kaname. I know that some things… someone who gives blood as food…to revive a vampire is a sin. Doing something like that…we can’t let someone find out. We walk closer to each other. “Yuuki where are you going?” He asks me. “I’m going to the Night Class.” I say. “It has ended. Everyone has gone to the dorm. Should I tell headmaster Cross that you are outside?” He asks me. “No…” I say looking down. “Really… the ends of you hair are wet…” He says as he touches my hair. “Why…? Did you wash it?” he asks. Please don’t notice! Please don’t find out. Don’t take off the band-aid. Don’t see Zero’s bite mark! Kaname strokes my neck. I blush. Then Kaname hugs me. “In these ten years, only this part of you has changed.” He says as he pulls back. “Good night Yuuki.” He says as he walks away. “Good night. Kaname…” I say as I walk away. I don’t regret what Zero and I did. But why does my chest hurt…

Yagari’s POV:

I am standing behind a tree as I watch Kaname. “A pure blood hugging a human girl so warmly… I don’t know why you don’t follow tradition to like that little girl. You know what she did. After all, evidence is still there.” I say leaning on the tree. Kaname glares at me. “Never mind, it’s getting weird waiting for your answer. What’s your motive? Why don’t you drive Zero into a corner?” I ask as the smoke of my cigarette moves in the wind. There’s a storm coming. Kaname uses his power to burn the end of my cigarette. “So that I won’t lose her…” He says as he walks away.

Mizuki’s POV:

I gallop as fast as White Lily can take it. Still blinded by tears I keep riding away from that place. Something enters my nose. I slow down to a trot then halt Lily. It…it’s blood…animal blood… I stop crying finally. An animal is hurt. I must help it. I walk Lily my nose leading me to the source of the animal. It sells of blood, rain, dead animals, and the woods… A wolf? I hear a soft howl then a rustle of leaves. I trot and I found the wolf it’s neck and paws covered in blood. I leap off Lily and tie her it a tree. The wolf is a dark brown almost black and orange almost amber eyes. It wines. So pitiful. It’s kind of big to be a wolf. But it’s definitely a wolf. I walk slowly closer to it. It just looks at me. “Poor thing your hurt.” I say to it. The male wolf locks eyes with me. Like Zero I can feel the pain in its eyes. “It’s ok I’m here to help you.” I tell it. I kneel down by it and stroke his fur. It was soft surprisingly. There is a deep gash on its neck. It wines softly. He’s in so much pain he can barley make a sound. I lift up its paws they to are cut up badly but not as much as his neck. “I’ll be right back.” I say. I go to Lily and take off one of her leg wrappings. I go back to the wolf and carefully bandage his neck. He lies there with his sad looking eyes. “There you go…I’m going to take you with me.” I say softly. I pick the wolf up and he howls. “Ssshhh It’s going to be alright.” I say as I put him side ways on the saddle. I put my feet in the stirrups and get Lily to trot. I need to get this animal to the school and fast! I urge Lily into a canter. The storm breaks and rain and lightning are everywhere. I hope the vampires won’t notice the blood. They don’t like animal blood anyway. I finally get to the school. I see Yagari. He sees I have something with me and comes running over. “I need help this wolf has a deep neck wound and his paws are cut up.” I tell him. “Ok take him to the headmaster’s office. I’ll get the horse.” He says. I carry the wolf to the building. Man this thing is heavy. I get to the room and find a blanket and put it over the wolf. I try to get the shivering wolf warm. Yagari comes in with a first aid kit. “Here this might be useful.” He says as he gives it to me. “Thanks…” I say taking off the used bandage. I clean the wound and rebadged it. Yagari tends to the paws. I won’t be going to school tomorrow. I must take care of this new friend.

Yuuki’s POV:

I’m sitting in class and Mizuki and Zero aren’t here. He will come. Yes Zero will come. As long as he looks fine, that man won’t kill him.

Zero’s POV:

I broke Mizuki’s heart there was no way I could face her. I’m sitting by the wall. My hand to my forehead. “Why are the windows covered?” Yagari asks as he walks in with a suitcase. “How is your shoulder?” He asks. “Huh?” I say. “The gun was made to kill vampires. Even vampires with high recovery speed can’t heal so fast… unless they drink blood.” He says as he takes out my Bloody Rose gun.

Yuuki’s POV:

I look around and Zero nor Mizuki still not in class. Zero?! I jump out of my seat and run out the classroom. “Cross?” The teacher yells after me. I’m so stupid! I shouldn’t have left him alone! I slam open the door and Yagari is pointing the Bloody Rose at Zero. He pulls the trigger. I’m just speechless. “No Zero!!” I yell. Zero is holding the end of the gun. He pulled it up in time so he didn’t get shot. “Isn’t it a good thing to be killed by me?” He asks Zero as he lets go of the gun. “Have you forgotten?” He asks Zero. “I won’t let you regret losing your eye to save me. That day you made an oath. Seeing you like this, makes me want to kill you. I feel that killing you will make me more comfortable, somewhat happy even. While you fight, struggle to your heart’s content. The life you have chosen now is of a lot of fresh blood. Don’t run away Zero.” He tells him as he walk toward the door. “Hey little girl!” He calls me. “What! Little girl…?! What is it?” I ask. “Once he breaks down you must stop him. His crooked arm is because of his injury. Just sew it up and it’ll be fine. From now on it’s up to you.” He tells me. “But…you attacked him at the pond…” I say. “If I wanted to kill him, I wouldn’t have left only a wound. Missing a shot from that distance? You are joking. Ah…I’ll send for my bad some other time, I’m a busy guy, and there are things to be done. No time to slack. Good bye… I want to see you ok at our next meeting…and take care of Mizuki for me too…you have a thing for her right? Oh and Zero…that woman seems to be alive.” He says as he closes the door. Zero clasps his neck. That woman…? I turn around. “Zero I thought you were going to die.” I say as I clench my fist. “Yuuki…” he says as he gets up. He reaches his arm out then pulls back and closes his eyes. He ruffles my hair as he says, “I’m not running away anymore… so…stop crying.” Zero walks away probably going to look for Mizuki. I won’t regret it!
