I checked my phone again for the hundredth time. Nothing, still nothing. It'd been two hours. Two hours since I'd asked Bill what he wanted to do tonight.
I sighed, trying not to get angry. This was the fifth time he's blown me off since they've been home-and the band has been home nearly two weeks. I've seen Tom, Gustav, and Georg a few times because they've stopped by the Starbucks where I work. We haven't hung out yet because the guys have still been busy unpacking and seeing family and such. But at least they've promised to hang out tomorrow night.
I checked my phone again. Still nothing. This time I let my anger wash over me. He was the one who suggested hanging out tonight. I'd agreed and let myself get excited even though the last four times we'd talked of hanging out everything fell through. They'd been gone on tour for three months and now they were back and I still hadn't seen my Bill.
My Bill. I scoffed. As if. Bill could have whomever he wanted, why would he want me? I'd known him for years; I knew he was out of my league. That didn't stop my stupid heart though. My crush on Bill had begun 3 years ago when he was 19 and I was 17. Their band had been famous for a few years by then but I hadn't realized my feelings until they'd gone on their American tour, leaving me behind to finish school. It was when I began missing Bill just a bit more than the others that I knew.
I'd tried my best to banish those feelings, knowing that they'd only lead to trouble, but when that didn't work I'd settled for acting as normal as possible around him. It wasn't that hard really; I just had to remember to be careful about my actions. Tom knew but that was it unless he'd told the G's.
I checked my phone again though I knew there'd be no message. It did tell me though that it was nearly 11pm. I wasn't that tired but I had to get up early for work. I changed and plugged my phone in before climbing into bed.
The next morning I was at work by nine. Most of the morning rush had already come and gone so the place wasn't too busy. During a lull, I took the opportunity to check my phone. I'd turned it off last night and hadn't had the chance yet this morning to turn it back on.
One new message. It was from Bill, sent at 2:30am. I love you.
I slammed my phone shut. He'd just sent that because he knew I was probably mad at him. I opened my phone again to the message, quickly typing a reply as a customer walked in. Now you decide to reply?
"Can I get a caramel Frappuccino?"
"yes sir, coming right up. That'll be $4.25." I told the young man, taking his $5 and giving him back his change and receipt. It didn't take me long to make his drink and soon I was back to being bored. I checked my phone to see I had a new message. Ha, what?
I scowled, texting back. Nothing. I wasn't going to tell him what was wrong, he could figure it out.
"It's not even noon and you're already in a bad mood?" a voice asked. I looked up to see Tom standing in front of the counter. I hadn't even heard him come in.
"What? Oh, no, not really. It's nothing." I told him, tucking my phone away.
"Right. Well, I figured you might be bored so I thought I'd drop by."
"Thanks. And you're right, I am bored."
"When's your lunch break?" he asked.
"Um..." I glanced at the clock. "Nowish. I can probably take it a little early. Why?"
He shrugged. "Figured you might want company. Gustav, Georg and I are meeting at the sushi place up the street soon. I texted Bill but he's probably still asleep."
