“Mm…you’re beautiful.” My boyfriend Matt told me as he hugged me goodnight. We’d just gotten back from dinner and a movie and he’d walked me up to my door.
“Thanks.” I said awkwardly, pulling away from him and breaking the hug. “Goodnight Matt.”
“Goodnight Sophia.” He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek before leaving. I opened the door and stepped into my condo. Normally I’d either head over to one of the guys’ places or they’d be here but it was late and Georg had told me the four of them had been planning on hitting the clubs tonight.
The building my condo was in was actually divided into four condos. I lived in one and the members of Tokio Hotel had the other three. Georg was my best friend. I’d met him three years ago when I’d first moved in. He and I had the two condos upstairs while Gustav and the twins had the two on the ground floor. I’ve since become friends with the rest of the band.
I didn’t even bother turning on the light as I walked into my room and began changing into pajamas, still thinking. Georg was my best friends, Gustav was like a brother to me, Bill was possibly the most hyper boy I’d ever met not to mention a cool guy and Tom…well, Tom was Tom. If I could have my dream guy, it’d be him, but I knew it was fruitless. He liked to have fun and wanted someone sexy and drop-dead gorgeous. I thought I was lucky to pass for cute most of the time, and pretty occasionally if I was dressed up, let alone anything above that. As it was, I guess I was lucky I was with Matt though I don’t see why he liked to call me beautiful.
Stop it. I ordered myself. Matt is a good boyfriend. He’s nice, charming, and thinks your beautiful. As I slowly drifted off to sleep, one last thought floated across my mind. Why doesn’t it matter?
By the time I woke up the next morning, all thoughts from last night had been forgotten and I awoke feeling refreshed. I’d just taken a shower and was brushing my teeth when my phone buzzed. It was Georg.
Hey Soph. Wanna get coffee?—Georg
Sure. Meet at your place?—Sophia
Yeah—Georg
I put my toothbrush back and picked up my hair brush to quickly run through my hair. It didn’t take long because my black hair was only shoulder length. After throwing on a T-shirt, jeans, and a hoodie, I checked myself in the mirror. I was of average height and a little on the chubby side despite the fact that I worked out almost every day. The jeans were yesterday’s and the shirt was a little snug but I had a hoodie I would throw on that would cover any unsightly lumps on my way out. I sighed. I was only going to get coffee so it’s not like it really mattered what I looked like. I grabbed my phone and keys and I was off.
The coffee shop that the guys and I always went to was two blocks away. We were there so often that most of the baristas knew us and didn’t even have to ask what we wanted. Evelyn was working this morning. She called out a greeting as I walked. “Hey Sophia. The Usual I take it?”
“Hey Evelyn. Yeah, the Usual; guys too.”
