Five Years Later

Heart racing, legs weak, mind swirling.

This is it.

This.

Is.

It.

Holy shit!

This is it!

I am getting married!

I am getting married.

In an odd turn of events I had somehow wound up getting engaged to Aaron Nola, not Austin Nola as I had later learned I would have had I not decided to smack lips with his brother. It had been five years since the World Series, five years since that fateful kiss. Five years since Austin ran off with Cinnamon or Ginger or whatever the hell Aaron's ex's name was. Five years since my life changed for the better.

My anxiety though not fully gone was much less prominent. Panic attacks had no become a rare event. And despite the fact that Cameron, Cody, and Freddy all wound up on other teams I was able to stay in touch with them and make many new friends on my team. Aaron and I had been officially dating for a year when Aaron proposed to me on the Natchez.

We already had a house together on Royal Street, the same one we rented together all those years ago. In there we had a case filled with both of our cy young trophies and pictures from that World Series. We now go fishing on Sundays and on Bourbon Street on Saturdays. The rest of the week is for Royal Street. We go to LSU games all year long whether its for football or baseball and we both still play on our beloved Phillies and have now become huge keystones in both Philadelphia and New Orleans learning we can love both cities equally. Aaron and I had won a World Series for Philadelphia now it was time for us to get married and start a life in New Orleans.

My face hurt from smiling so much as I walked down the aisle in St.Louis Cathedral, bouquet in hand, my dress dragging across the floor. Aaron stood by at the alter smiling with that same goofy grin I fell in love with ages ago. Together we both said our vows as he placed his hand overtop of mine, then we both slipped the World Series rings we had won onto each others fingers and we were pronounced man and wife.

Aaron swooped my into a deep kiss then carried me down the aisle and I then knew I had chosen the right man.
