Noah's POV
"Elle!?"
I jog down the stairs to find my sister, and she's munching on something in the kitchen, she looks up at me with a brow raised.
"Yeah?"
"Have you seen my skateboard?" I ask her, looking under the couch and then the bookshelf.
She shakes her head at me. "You're always losing that thing... I don't know, do I skate?"
I scoff. "Right... well we're so lucky you don't."
"Hey!"
I laugh and abandon the search for my board, I go over to where Elle's sitting and give her a side hug, she leans on me.
"What's that?" I point down at her book.
She sighs. "Math project."
I raise a brow. "Hey, want to go out somewhere to get a late lunch? I start University tomorrow, and you know I won't be always free anymore."
"What did I just tell you about my project?"
"What project?!" We hear as the door closes and in comes mom and dad.
"I have a math project." Elle tells them.
Mom walks over and looks over her shoulder at the books. "Well, honey. That's good stuff you've got down there, you want any help? Dad's mostly helpful with that." She chuckles and winks at dad.
... Okay no.
"I've got to go get some things from the shop, want to join me?" Mom asks us.
"I'll go!" Elle squeals and gets up, I raise a brow at her she just shrugs and winks at me. Elle runs up to her room and I'm left looking at my dad holding onto my mom's waist, they seriously never let their love die.
"Have you guys seen my skateboard?" I ask.
Dad frowns. "I thought I saw it in the garage."
"At the beach?"
"Nope, out there." He nods toward the house garage.
"I knew it!" I shout.
"Before you starting running off!" My mom laughs and holds me back. "You all packed up for university yet?"
"You know I always pack at the last second." I wink at her and run off... of course, that was a fun joke between me and my parents.
It all started on the first day of school... I was 5 and being that small I didn't know shit about school and no way did I know I had to have a bag and pencils.. my dad being the usual dad wanted me to learn how to pack my school stuff by myself. I did everything at the last minute, packing my bag two minutes before school started, homework the night before... the list goes on.
I had a awesome childhood, my parents loved me and Elle and they raised me to love my sister unconditionally, we don't actually fight either. It's not a normal sibling relationship, ever since she was a baby I was with her everyday taking care of her.
Elle and me are joined at the hip.
"There you are..." I mumble to myself and pick up my full black colored skateboard, sliding my hand down the base.
I hear the garage close behind me and dad's leaning on the frame looking at me with his own smile.
"You excited to be going to uni?" He asks.
I shrug. "I'm as ready as can be..."
He frowns. "Noah, what's bugging you lately?"
I chuckle. "Ahh... no idea what you mean."
"Today you didn't stay two hours on the waves." He grins. "Usually you stay at the beach half of the day with Elle."
I groan. "You caught me. I guess I'm just half ready to go to school, I wanted to surf and travel.."
He nods slowly. "You can still surf during your studies, the traveling part? I guess you'll have to wait for that."
I laugh. "Yeah... will have to do that, dad."
He chuckles and looks around the shit we have in here. "I remember the first time we brought you to the beach, you absolutely loved the water, wouldn't get out of it. Mom had to drag you away from it.."
"Yeah... well you did not give me chance to hate it." I grin and sit on the ground on my board. "But I'm glad I've got that behind me."
"So, you want to be a surfer for life?" Dad sits down next to me.
I shrug. "I don't see myself being a lifeguard, but yeah.. after surfing I could try it out. But take on Elle before me." I say.
He chuckles. "Yeah, I heard her telling your mom."
"Dad... what if I don't raise up to your expectations?" I look up at him.
He shakes his head. "We're proud of who you are, Noah."
