My paws feel the cold, damp surface of the earth as more and more fog moves in. The fog has a shimmery glow to it, a sense of familiarity. As I walk, my paws take me to much dryer ground. All of the sudden, I realise what this sense of familiarity is, and where it is coming from. Cats I know. Cats that have left me. I realise where I am. My nose does not deceive me. Mother, Father, everyone. I am where cats go to die. I'm in StarClan.
I realise where I am, but death is not what I smell. I sense life. This is where cats come when their life with the living is done, and their life with the wise begins. I hear cats come out from the fog behind me, their paws against the hard earth. I look over to see a few silhouettes. The fog fades as they get closer to me. I can already tell they are not StarClan cats, due to the lack of stars in their fur. These cats are living, just like me.
I soon make out the face of the cat in lead. A slender she-cat, with a brown based pelt with only few patches of white on her ears and forepaws. This is WindClan's Medicine Cat, Ashfoot. The tom-cat next to Ashfoot goes by the name of Stormfur, RiverClan's Medicine Cat. Rather muscular, completely grey tabby fur, and almost yellow eyes. On the other side is the beautiful tortoiseshell she-cat, Spottedleaf, from ThunderClan. She is the one who steps forward to greet me and the others.
"My fellow Medicine Cats. It's not Half Moon. Why are we all in the very same dream like this?" She asks.
Is she serious? This is a dream? StarClan does seem to have it's way of getting its point across.
"There must have been a reason that StarClan came to us at the same time, especially now. Isn't tomorrow the Gathering?" Stormfur gazes at the stars.
I look at Stormfur, "it is likely that StarClan wants us to share whatever we learn tonight with the leaders. So that they may discuss it at the Gathering tomorrow."
"Are you sure? That is some big headed assumption," the brown patched WindClan she-cat retorts.
"Do you suggest something different, my friend? If you have an alternative idea of what StarClan is doing, I'm listening," I say to Ashfoot.
The she-cat goes quiet almost immediately. Following her silence, a few cats come out of the fog, with stars in their fur. Two of them. I smell the fading scent of a ThunderClan she-cat and a ShadowClan tom-cat.
"Your assumptions are correct, Cloverrock of ShadowClan," the ThunderClan she-cat meows.
The other tom-cat finishes, "we come to you four with a prophecy. One that concerns all of the Clans."
"What? So you just expect us to believe cats of ThunderClan and ShadowClan while no RiverClan or WindClan cats are here to tell their own kin? Did they have other things to do? It's not like they weren't available," A hostile meow comes from Stormfur.
Spottenleaf shoots a glare at her fellow Medicine Cat, "show some respect when in the presence of StarClan."
Ashfoot speaks up, "I'm not surprised that your Clan never taught you remorse, Stormfur. You spend all your time soaking in the river and less time teaching your young to respect their elders."
Stormfur opens his mouth to retort, but I quickly step in.
"Ashfoot! Stormfur! The limits of the Warrior Code do not apply to us Medicine Cats as like it does with the warriors," I meow, "we should not be fighting amongst ourselves, not when there is a possibility of something big coming. You two are wasting the limited night away with your squabbling."
"That is a lot of high and mighty talk for a cat who just became a full Medicine Cat only a few moons ago. You are too young and unwise to interfere. Let the grown-up cats talk this out, Cloverrock," Ashfoot retorts, the fur on her neck starting to stand up on end.
"That will be quite enough, All. We have seen all we need. Even the relationships between the Medicine Cats are weakened. You all need to hear what we have to say," one of the star furred cats says.
I can feel the tension in the area start to decrease. My anger starts to die down. As well as the others'. I see them look around then down at the ground, and nod, signalling the StarClan cats to start speaking.
The ThunderClan cat starts, "My name is Dawnstorm. I was once a ThunderClan Medicine Cat. I have come to warn Spottedleaf and all of you of the hardships you are in for."
"And my name is Tornstar. I was once leader of ShadowClan. I have come as well, to deliver a prophecy," The tom says in a cold, raspy, and desperate tone.
The blood in my veins runs cold. Why does he sound so distressed?
"A prophecy?" I ask.
The raspy voice of the old RiverClan cat echoes in my ears, making my back hairs stand on end at the sound of what he says, "what reason do we have to trust a ShadowClan Leader? You may be StarClan but that is no reason we should trust that what you say is true."
Tornstar looks at Stormfur, clearly trying to keep calm, "I may be ShadowClan, but not all of us are consumed by darkness."
"Brokenstar and Tigerstar were the most recent ShadowClan leaders that..."
I shoot a glare at Ashfoot, quickly shutting her up, "we are never to speak of those names. They tarnished ShadowClan's good name. Left a permanent stain in our history that can never be removed."
"Let them speak," we hear a meow from Spottedleaf.
Dawnstorm looks up at all of us, "There will come a day when the breezes, the storms, the shadows and the waters collide. Four cats must take back what an enemy stole. The Heavens must be stopped."
"The Heavens?" I look at the deceased Medicine Cat.
I hear Ashfoot from next to me, "yes, that is what she said, Cloverrock."
Spottedleaf rolls her eyes at the rude Medicine Cat out of the corner of my eye, "so immature for an old cat," she says.
Stormfur completely ignores the two other Medicine Cats and looks to Dawnstorm, "what does it mean? Breezes, waters, storms, darkness... It doesn't make sense! And by Heavens, did you mean StarClan?!"
Even before Stormfur could finish, the StarClan cats were gone, and we were left in the cold, empty clearing. Any trace of StarClan is absent, and we were left looking at each other in confusion and fear. What was that? I open my mouth to speak, but I soon find myself in my nest, back in the ShadowClan Medicine Cats den.
^^I hope you liked the Prologue of my new story! I'll still be working on my Fairy Tail stories but I felt like expanding a bit. Throwing my ideas out there. Should I keep working on this one? What is your favourite Warriors book?^^
