"I am back" I announced my arrival to Mom. She was sitting in living room and watching TV.
"Oh Bora, you're back. Go changeup and I'll have the dinner ready." I nodded and went to take a quick shower to refresh myself.
I was now at the dining table while Mom served me food, "Did you visit Dad today?"
"Yes. He is starting to get better, right?" I smiled ear to ear. I was happy to see him recovering.
"Yes. Doctors are saying if he continues the recovery with this speed, he might be discharged from the hospital soon."
"Is it? Wow!" I was surprised and elated. "That's awesome. Dad would get rid of those beeping machines he hates so much" I chuckled and so did Mom. Our smiles were genuine. They had hope.
But I noticed how tired Mom looked. She had eye bags with dark circles. The charm of her face lost. All because of the past few months spent in tension. After Dad got his treatment started, Mom had been managing the business on his behalf. Even normally, Mom used to help Dad with business so it wasn't much difficult for her to manage all alone. But with Dad's illness and continuous treatments, it was difficult. Treatments weren't cheap. They were creating a hole in our pockets, slowly and steadily. Mom would never discuss her problems and hardships with me. 'Children shouldn't be worrying about money matters. Doesn't suit them' She would always say when I worried about all the expenses of studying in America. But now, I had decided I would help her in any possible way.
"Mom, I have decided to work for a part-time job. I saw a poster today at Uni--" She cut me before I could complete.
"Bora, you don't have to do this. We are going fine with the expenses. You don't--"
And I cut her this time, "Mom, first of all, it isn't a burden for me. Second, I did part-time jobs in America too so why not here. Third, it's for my expenses so don't worry." I was determined. I wasn't taking no for answer.
And with that, she smiled knowing she couldn't argue further with me. "You aren't going to take no for an answer so why bother asking me?" She was trying to tease me.
"This was my subtle way of informing you." We both chuckled and enjoyed the dinner.

Namjoon and I were walking towards our first class of the day. The sight inside the classroom was a typical early morning classroom look. All students were sleepy, half of them already asleep on desks with books as their pillows. I saw the last bench empty so I tried to rush and sit before anyone else could.
Once I sat, I noticed Namjoon wasn't following me. In fact, he was nowhere to be seen. When I looked around, I noticed him sitting in one of the middle benches with a girl. She must be Sunhi. I gave him death glares which he couldn't since he was facing forward and talking with Sunhi. Once he felt someone staring at him, he turned back to look at me and got shocked by my expressions. It was a funny sight to see him shocked and I failed to control my laughter.
Suddenly, I felt someone standing near my bench. I looked to my right to notice none other than...
"uh Hi! Uhm – Can I talk to you for a minute?" He asked nervously. Why was he nervous?
"If only a minute. I am sure I can't bear you more than that." He nodded, looking at me then at the empty seat beside me, his eyes shifting between these two until I said, "Yeah okay, sit down."
"Thanks!" I looked at his face, wishing him to speak whatever he wanted as fast as he could and leave.
"Uh Actually I wanted to--" He paused, eyes not meeting mine. I waited for him to continue.
