ALL OF THE EVENTS THAT TAKE PLACE IN THIS STORY ARE BASED OFF OF TRUE EVENTS (I highly encourage watching the movie 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi before reading this so you fully understand the traumatic events that happened in those 13 hours in Libya).
Synopsis: On Sept. 11, 2012, Islamic militants attacked the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, killing Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and Sean Smith, an officer for the Foreign Service. Stationed less than one mile away are members of the Annex Security Team, former soldiers assigned to protect operatives and diplomats in the city. As the assault rages on, the six men engage the combatants in a fierce firefight to save the lives of the remaining Americans.
All the characters (except my original character) are real people. Jack Silva, Kris "Tanto" Paronto, Tyrone "Rone" Woods, Glen "Bub" Doherty, Dave "Boon" Benton, John "Tig" Tiegen, and all other people mentioned in this story are real people who actually went through these traumatic events. Many people, American and Libyan, lost their lives that day and we honor those six men who risked their lives to make the world a better place and protect those who cannot protect themselves.
This story is by no means made to make light of this situation, but merely used as a backbone to an aspiring writer's desire to write about something of this magnitude.
I thank you very much for reading this before the story and again for actually reading the story. I hope to do this real story justice with my piece of altered fiction.
Thank you everyone, and enjoy.
