Chapter 3 - The Arrival

Another day, another few hours of hell. I sighed, getting ready. I woke up early this time, I didn't want to take my chances again. This Sollux kid would be coming here today, and I was really curious to meet him for some reason I couldn't put my finger on.

I wore my usual get-up, and grabbed my awesome headphones. They were one of those big ones with the band that goes over the top or your head. I connected them to my phone, selecting Three Days Grace's album One X. I put my phone in my pocket, grabbing my bag and heading out of the house.

I made it to the school with about 20 minutes to spare, so I took my time at my locker and going to class. I sat down, only a few others were in the room this early. As time passed more people came in, and I noticed someone go up to the teacher and ask where they would sit. They sat beside me in silence.

So this is that Captor kid...?

The bell rang and the class fell silent. Porrim walked to the front of the room, smiling as she introduced the new kid. She motioned towards him as she spoke.

"Class, this is Sollux Captor. He just moved here, so give him a warm welcome!" The class greeted him quietly, though I just looked at him.

He looks really handsome...

I blushed at the thought, and shook my head to clear it. He had jet black sticky-uppy hair, and wore 3-D glasses over his eyes. He had a yellow sweatshirt with a black Gemini sign, and red and blue skinnies with black and white Nikes. The look really worked for him. He was a little tan, with dark freckles on his face like mine. I was jerked out of my thoughts as I heard Porrim call my name for role.

"Karkat Vantas?" I nodded, signalling that I was here.

When I turned the new kid was looking at me with a shocked expression. I raised an eyebrow at him. As soon as he noticed he'd been caught looking he turned towards the front of the room, blushing in embarrassment.

Whats his deal...?

The teacher set us up in partners for an art project, and low and behold I was with the new kid. He turned towards me, and I couldn't tell how he was looking at me because of those shitty glasses.

Don't be an insufferable fuckass.

"Hey, I'm Karkat, you're the new kid right?" I mentally face-palmed. Of course he was the new kid.

"Yeah, I'm Thollux Captor. Nice to meet you." He was speaking awkwardly for some reason. I raised an eyebrow.

"Are you okay...?" He looked surprised.

"Of courthe I'm okay. Anywayth, we thould probably get to know eachother if we are doing thith project together."

"Yeah," I tried to think of a question, and blurted the first thing that came to mind, "Favorite animal?"

That is literally the dumbest question I've ever asked someone...

"Beeth. You?"

"Crabs."

"Oh cool. What do you like to do?" I thought about it for a second.

"Drawing, writing, singing sometimes, some video games every once in a while." He nodded at me.

"I'm into coding and videogameth. Bathically anything electronic."

"How old are you?"

"Thixteen."

"Same here."

"Are you-" Sollux was interrupted by the bell, and I grabbed my things and started walking out.

"See you later, Captor!" And with that I walked out.
