"Aeri ah! Wake up, I made breakfast" Her father yelled from downstairs causing her eyes to snap wide open. She grabbed her phone to look at the time and let out a sigh of relief when she realised it was only 8 am.
It was Saturday today which meant her father had a day off and she could probably spend some time with him. She quickly washed up and ran downstairs at the name of food. He was making her favourite: pancakes.
"Good morning appa" She smiled and pecked him on the cheek. He smiled back and offered her his amazingly delicious blueberry pancakes. She ate happily and made small talks with her father until he brought up a sensitive topic.
"Do you plan on applying to Seoul national University?" He asked and all colour drained from Aeri's face. She had been thinking about this for a while but didn't know how to bring it up.
"Uh ... appa? I, w-well, I was thinking about something" She stuttered and tried to think of how to put it in a sentence. Considering that her father was a full time working business man and her mother was a highly respected doctor, she didn't know how his reaction would be.
Education was always first priority to them.
"What's wrong, Aeri ah?" He asked, worried.
"I w-was uh thinking of taking a year off. Like have some work experience and not having to study all the time" She said hesitantly. "It's only a year" She added quickly when her father started taking it in.
His expression turned into a serious one and she knew of what was to come.
"Ok" He said simply leaving Aeri in a state of shock. She gasped at first but then quickly smiled after realising what he said. She squealed and ran up to hug her dad.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! Saranghae appa!" She said and then left the room happily.
After a long K-drama marathon, she looked at the time. 4 pm.
The thought of what happened at the park the day before popped up in her mind and she started thinking if he had gotten her reply. Aeri assumed it was a he because a girl wouldn't really compliment her like that. She didn't know, it was like a gut feeling.
She didn't go to the park today and it made her think whether he expected to see her. The question seemed to wander around in her mind until she finally got up to head to the park, even though it was 4 pm.
She looked at her messy hair and decided to take a shower, stretching her limbs after getting up from the comfy couch. She changed into skinny jeans and a simple white top before leaving her house quietly along with her basket ball.
It would only take a moment and she would be back before her appa knew it. The weather was a bit cloudy today and only a few rays of sunlight could be seen showing that it would rain very soon. Changing her mind, Aeri threw the ball back in her house and quickly got an umbrella while she headed to the park.
