A basket ball rolled up to her and landed near her feet, snapping her out of the trance. She looked down and then back up to the guy. He was now standing and gesturing to her to pass the ball back. She took the ball in her hands and started walking towards him.
Nervous wasn't a word that could describe what she was feeling. No. A whole flock of butterflies were swarming around in her stomach as sweat started forming on her forehead. Yep, she was so nervous, she could literally fall down right there but she kept herself together.
Once she reached him, she handed the ball back to him and he slit off his mask to his chin. He smiled to her as she stood there frozen.
"Uh ... hi" He said. It was the first time she heard his voice and the first word that came to her mind was 'sexy'. His voice was so strange, it was like he is drunk but a cool drunk. Like even his voice is dripping with sexiness. Great description!
She snapped back to reality and bowed "Annyeong" she said shyly and handed the basket ball back to him.
He bowed back and mumbled something that she didn't catch. "Sorry I didn't speak to you back then." He started and she shook her head saying it was fine.
"So..." He said and rubbed the back of his head "Did you get my note?" He asked awkwardly.
Knowing what he meant, Aeri held out the note and smiled. "Sure" She said and blushed.
Mystery man's eyes widened and he stared at her. "So y-you will go out with me?" He stuttered and Aeri nodded her head timidly. He smiled and bounced the ball before holding it between his arm and stomach.
"What's your name?" Aeri asked, realizing she still didn't know his name.
"Oh sorry. My name is Min Yoongi" He said and started bouncing the ball again. He was nervous and didn't know what to do with his hands.
The longer Aeri stared at his face the more she thought he looked like someone she had seen before but that was probably because she hadn't seen such a handsome face in Korea. Even his name somehow sounded familiar. This guy was getting even more interesting.
"Sorry I'm not so good when talking to girls" Yoongi suddenly said. She smiled and shrugged it off before suggesting sitting down against the tree.
They both sat together leaving a space between them. Aeri didn't know what to do and started plucking the grass looking down.
"So you like basketball?" Aeri asked breaking the silence even though it wasn't awkward. In fact it was kind of comfortable even though they don't know each other that well. Yoongi was staring up at the sky like he usually did.
"Yes" He answered but kept his eyes on the blue sky. They both couldn't make eye contact.
"Why do you come here every day?" She asked slowly and plucked a flower, rolling it around between her fingers.
He looked at her while she kept her eyes on the flower. 'Because of you' he wanted to answer but that would creep her out. "To enjoy the peaceful scenery" He answered.
"Don't you work?" She asked and looked up at him curiously.
"I do. But I'm always on break at noon so I come here to rest" He answered. Aeri liked the sound of his voice. Not only was he insanely hot and had an amazing fashion sense, he also worked! Score for her.
"What do you do?" She asked.
"Why do you ask?" He questioned back wanting to see her reaction. She shut up and a light tint of pink appeared on her cheeks.
"Just wanted to make sure you aren't a murderer who wants to kidnap me" She said after a short period of silence. She wanted to lighten the awkward atmosphere so she spoke the truth.
To her surprise, Yoongi actually chuckled at her comment. "Why would a murderer want to kidnap?" He asked. His laugh was like a beautiful melody to her ears. He seemed like one of those guys who rarely ever laughed and had this quiet and sophisticated aura around him.
"Hmm. Good point" Aeri said and put a hand under her chin as if she was thinking really hard. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see him smile slightly at her childish actions.
"So where are you taking me Mr. Yoongi?" she asked as she plucked another flower near her and inhaled the sweet fragrance coming from it. Yoongi seemed so lost in staring at her alluring face that he didn't hear her ask a question.
Seconds of silence went by and Aeri decided to look at him only to catch him observing her face. His soft, pale cheeks became pink and he looked away, embarrassed. Aeri only smiled and realized the man wasn't as dangerous as she feared; He was sweet and innocent despite appearing cold and detached.
Yoongi looked at his watch and his eyes widened at how time passed so quickly. His break was over and he had to be back for work. Aeri noticed his quick change of behaviour and raised an eyebrow. He looked at her then back at his watch again.
Yoongi didn't want this peaceful moment to stop but all had to end sooner or later. Reluctantly he sat up and looked her in the eyes not knowing how to say goodbye. "Do you have to go somewhere?" She asked trying to guess why he sat up.
Yoongi nodded his head. "Can we continue this conversation tomorrow?" He questioned and she nodded her head rather excitedly which made him smile yet again. He couldn't remember the last time he smiled this much. The young man stood up and offered his hand to Aeri as she looked at it quizzically.
Once she realized what he was doing, she hesitantly put her hand in his big one and let him pull her up. A weird tingle ran on her fingers that were placed in his palm, this was the first time they made contact and it made her heart beat faster. His hand was white –like the rest of his creamy skin- but it was veiny (the hot kind) and warm which was a shocker because it was a cold day today.
"Your hand is cold" He said as he placed his other hand on top of her and tried to make it warmer. Aeri blushed and pulled her hand away because for some reason, she felt embarrassed. He gave her a smile and placed his hands in the pockets of his black jacket.
Yoongi then hesitantly stepped back and the smile fell from his face. The fact that he promised her he'd be here tomorrow was a complete lie. His schedule was too packed and he would be busy for the rest of the week. What hurt him the most was that he won't be able to see her beautiful face again for so many days. Her electrifying eyes, her petite nose, her childish and adorable smile, he'd miss all of her features. This girl was truly something. What truly made Aeri an attractive girl to him, was her boyish and friendly personality. She was outgoing and kind, to anyone, young or old: no one could possibly hate her. And of course, she loved playing basketball which naturally sparked an interest in him.
Aeri stood, waiting for him to leave oblivious and unaware to the fact that she won't be seeing the mysterious and charming man for a week. She seemed happy that he asked her out and was looking forward to getting to know him. Her blue eyes trailed from his body to his head where she saw his blonde hair and a frown appeared on her face.
Without thinking the words left her mouth "I liked your mint green hair better". Her hand immediately went to her mouth and she covered it with her eyes wide. She realized she may have said something rude but felt relieved when an amused smirk appeared on Yoongi's face.
"Me too" He said before turning around and walking away. She had expected him to say 'good bye' or at least a small farewell like the wave of a hand but he just walked away like he hadn't asked her out an hour ago or they hadn't had a small chat about nothing.
He just left.
