The Project

Chapter 3

I made my way out of the parking lot, and I started walking towards my house. When I notice the motorcycle waiting by the corner of the block.

" You look like you need a ride?"

I roll my eyes in response and keep walking, " What's it to you? "

He slowly takes off his helmet and laughs in response, " So you don't need a ride? Shit, what a waste of my time."He places the helmet on his lap and shouts! I stop and turn towards him!

"Now you know how it feels to have your time wasted," I replied. He laughs."Okay, that's fair but since your here let me get your number?" he says.

I gave him my number and explained that he is only to text me about the project. "So, do you need a ride?" he asked me. "No, I actually live 15 minutes away. I will just walk there but thanks for asking" He nods, places his helmet on his head and drives off.

I didn't live 15 minutes away but, with the day I had, I needed to walk it off. I lived 25 minutes away from the school, but that was if I had a car, but I don't so. It looks like I would be walking for 40 minutes. I put my headphones on turned on Jhene Aiko.

I made my way home to find my mom was already home watching television in the living room. " Hey mom, how was your day?" I asked. "It was good sweetheart," she replies. I lean in for a hug and a kiss from her. " How was your day?"

"My day was pretty interesting, I meet this boy. He is kind of a jerk, but we have to work on a project together."

"What is his name?"

"JAMIE"

"Hmm... okay. Well, what is the project?"

"It's a book project and we need to consistently respond on online discussions of the book. In order to promote an argument and do a presentation of our argument on the book. Which is supposed to be our interpretation of the book."

"Well Maya you are a smart girl, whether if this boy is a jerk or not, I know you are going to great on this project."

"Thanks, Mom" I started walking towards my room to drop my stuff off. Coco is sitting on my bed. "Hey, coco come here." She jumps off the bed and sits down in front of me! I pat coco and the head and rub my heads throw her fur. " I missed you coco!" She licks my arm.

I walk past her and prepare my clothes for bed. My mom whips up some of her famous sloppy joe and my tummy is pleased for the rest of the night. I submitted my response to chapter one of the book and then I fell asleep. The next morning, my phone beeps at 6 am in the morning. I am disturbed by the notification that just came in. I pick up the phone on my bedside and read the message and it's from Jamie.

My mom dropped me off at school the next morning. The first thing I did was stop by the locker I was given the day before. I dropped my bag on the floor, and I tried to put in the combination it didn't open. Eventually, I started getting frustrated and grabbed my bag, so I can at least get to class on time. But before I can leave this girl walks up and places her hand on the locker.

"Hey, having a little trouble," she says. "Yeah, I am," I replied.

"Oh okay, I could help you out" She grabs the paper that I had in my hand input the combination. My locker was 54, and the combination was 5-22-6. "Not sure if you know this but the 5 is always 3 in this school, I don't know why but when you use three instead of five it just works!" she explains.

"Really, thank you!"Before I can ask for her name she walks off. I pull the lock and the door open I put the books that I didn't need in my locker and walked to class. 

As I am walking there is a group of guys standing in the way of me getting into my class. 

"Excuse me... " 

No one responses..

"Yo did you guys here me, your in my way" I push the boy that is standing directly in front of me. He turns around and I can't believe my eyes it's him again...
