Rusty woke up that morning and immediately wanted to go back to bed. The numb feeling that was wrapped around him told him that today was going to be a bad day, not that he could afford to have a bad day with all the shit currently going on. So with that in mind, he pushed himself up with arms of jello. His head dropped to his chest with a sigh as dead weights replaced his bones, begging him to sink back into the covers and hide from the world. He tried to keep Klaus on his mind as he lugged himself out of bed, his mind screaming at him as he worked his way around him room, being sure to avoid any mirrors. He wore black jeans that day and a baggy sweater that reached rather low on him, hiding a fair amount of his body. He quickly grabbed sunglasses and placed them over his face to hide it.
A familiar meow was heard below him and he looked down at the small orange kitten who let out another meow and balanced herself on his legs. She stretched against him, but kept her paws on his legs meowing at him without pause. Rusty bent down and picked the fiery feline up, she snuggled into his sweater with a satisfied purr. He had plans for today, though he did suppose he could bring along the feisty kitten. So with this thought he walked out of the house and down to his car, sitting down and placing the kitten on his lap, allowing her to curl up into a ball in his sweater.
He drove himself to the Mikaelson house, there was a certain youngest son he needed to talk to. He opened the door, he could sense the Mikaelson's there and he quickly tracked down the youngest son, Targaryen padding behind him and meowing in complaint about not being held. Rusty finally sighed and turned around, bending to pick the cat up who went quiet except for her purrs and small content mews.
He walked into the room containing the youngest Mikaelson boy, he was packing his bags, planning to flee the town. Rusty leaned against the wall, scratching his kitten's neck causing her to purr louder. Kol stopped packing, turning around to face the powerful warlock. "And what do I owe the pleasure?" Kol asked, leaning back against the bed holding his bags. Rusty gave him a troublemaker smirk that Kol returned, enjoying the company of the boy more than he liked to admit.
"How do you feel about a vacation? All the way to Denver," Rusty said and Kol leaned forward with interest raising his eyebrows with a flirtatious smile.
"Will you be joining me?" Kol asked, the kitten in Rusty's arms meowed at Kol who walked forward and scratched behind the orange cat's ears who purred at the attention.
"If you want," Rusty said and Kol grinned.
"Oh, I do want," Kol said charmingly and Rusty shrugged with a grin.
"Then I guess I am, we got a job to do there anyway so I should probably keep an eye on you," Rusty said and Kol pouted, leaning back slightly.
"And here I thought this was for fun," Kol pouted and Rusty gave a false grin.
"Who said we can't have fun while we're there?" Rusty asked, making his grin teasing to lure in the rambunctious vampire. Rusty did good with vampires who leaned on the bad side of immortality, his friendship with Klaus could work to prove it, he couldn't handle those who were self-righteous, he used to be like that but life had sucked it out of him. He didn't judge, he didn't try to hold them back and he understood them which made him a vampire's perfect bestie, just ask Klaus. Plus, many vampires were not religious which meant he wasn't judge because of a page in a book written thousands of years ago.
