Fire (bad stuff happens to cute couple)

The smoke alarm was what woke Manny and Matthew Patrick up. Matt woke up first, noticing smoke all around the room. The door was wide open. He peered out, noticing red and orange flames taking up their hallway “MANNY! MANNY” Matt screamed, running towards the bed and shaking his husband awake. He grabbed the few things he needed, putting them in his pocket. The few things included Manny’s wedding ring, his own glasses, and their phones. Manny grabbed a pair of boxers and went to find their pups. He came back, Reese and Ember on his arms. “I can't find Sadie. I think the...I think the fire got her” Matt ran into the kitchen, looking in Sadie's favorite bed. Nothing. He moved a bit too close to the gas stove, not noticing how close the flames were until the flame blew up and burned Matt’s entire left leg. He screamed, not being able to stand back up. Manny got the dogs to safety, running into the kitchen and through the flames to pick Matt up. Matt had the fire proof box on his chest. The box that included their important information. Marriage forms, birth certificates, vehicle forms. Manny put Matt in his car, along with the puppies and got in himself “you'll be okay, baby” Manny comforted Matt, who was crying over how bad his leg burned “we lost everything, Manny. Our house is gone” Manny sighed at Matt’s response. His eyes dulled a bit more “yeah, we did. But it’s not the time to worry. You're very severely burned, Matt. That's what i'm worried about. We’re getting you to a hospital” Manny responded. Matt remained quiet for a minute “We lost Sadie” “It wasn't our biggest loss this year, and we both know it. This was an awful thing to go through, but imagine how happy Nikita and Ro probably are with her” Manny parked in the hospital’s emergency parking lot, shutting his car door and opening Matt’s. He picked him up, as careful as he could be. Matt was sobbing as Manny accidentally touched the burn. Manny apologized profusely as he carried Matt in the door. Matt was immediately rushed away from Manny, hooked to a bunch of machines that he didn't think was necessary. The usual questions, like “whats your relationship” were asked before Manny was told to wait in the waiting room. After awhile, a doctor came out “Matthew has very severe burns, and he's gonna need surgery for a couple untreated injuries that were infected. He's gonna have to stay with us for a week” the gashes on his chest? The cut on his leg? The bone on his ring finger? Which injury? Manny didn't know. A week was just enough time to get an apartment and fix it. “oh, and he wanted to give you this” the doctor held out his hand, Manny’s wedding ring inside his palm.
