"Young mistress!"
A bright shining light flows through the room causing myself to groan in annoyance.
"Young mistress, your parents request your presence in the dining hall at once. Please be lady like upon your arrival."
Fast little feet make their way out of the room and the door clicks shut. I squint my eyes open.
"Ah!" I try to block out the light, "I'm blinded!"
I attempt to make my way to my bathroom without the use of my eyes, but sadly I trip over my own feet and fall face down. So much for lady like. I brush myself off and continue to get ready for the day. Unfortunately with my family I don't get a lot of 'casual clothes'. I put on an outfit that wouldn't make my mother complain and head to the dining hall.
"Good morning mother, father." I take a seat at my usual spot of our large ebony table. My father puts down his copy of today's daily prophet. He pushes a letter towards me, smiling softly in the process.

I turn the letter over to reveal a bright red wax Hogwarts stamp. I can no longer hold my calm and squeal in delight, "I got my Hogwarts letter!" I immediately open it, revealing the list of items I'll need for my first year. School starts September 1st only a little less than a month after my birthday.
"We are very proud of you darling. You'll be a great addition to the school. Now unfortunately your mother and I have work today, but we can go shopping Friday." My father allows our house elf to take away his plate as he fixes his black tie. He kisses the top of my head goodbye and takes my mothers arm in his.
"By darling, please behave while we are gone." My mother waves softly and apparates to the Ministry.
I sigh heavy heartedly. Our family elf, Dizzy, puts a plate of glorious chocolate chip pancakes at my seat. Normally my parents would shun Dizzy for this kind of breakfast, but they weren't here now were they?
"To celebrate your acceptance into Hogwarts young mistress."
I thank the kind elf and scarf the entire plate down. It is very unlady like of me, but it's not like anyone is watching.
After I eat I roam around Guant Manor, my beautiful home. In fact I couldn't imagine myself living anywhere else. There is only one other manor that comes nearly as close as elegant to mine. My father says a good Slytherin family lives there. I know that a young boy lives there who is only two months older than me. I have never met him, but part of me wishes I had. I have no friends around here, leaving me to play with our house elf and the portraits. I love my ancestors, but they can be a bit prejudice.
"Good morning Thalia," A booming voice fills the corridor. I look up to see my very great grandfather.
"Good morning Grandpa Salazar!" I hide my letter behind my back excitedly, "Guess what I got today!"
"Hmmmm, a present from your godfather?"
"I wish!" My smile is so bright you could see it from the sky, "I got my hogwarts letter!" I hold up the authentic envelope beaming.
"Congratulations my dear. I know you will make the house of Slytherin very proud."
"Thanks grandpa! I just gotta wait for Mum and Dad to take me shopping this Friday."
"Well that just makes this Friday even more special doesn't it?"
I nod my head in a rapid pace. I just can't control all this energy.
The portrait speaks once more, "Well run along dear have some last fun around the before you're off to school."
