~ "One can never have enough socks" ~

"Thank you."

The small elf takes the plate from my place at the table. It was finally Friday. Today mother and father would be taking me into Diagon Alley for school shopping.

"Now, darling, dress very nicely. We have some very important people for you to meet." My mother smiles softly as the elf takes her eating items away as well.

"Who might they be mother?"

"You'll just have to find out later. Now go get ready please."

I make my way to my wonderous bedroom. It's filled with items to keep me occupied with myself since most of the time I live alone. At least that's what it seems. Today is a very special day for me. It's my 11th birthday. I thought my parents would remeber this time since the mentioned it earlier this week, but it already slipped their minds. It's alright though I'm used to it.

I pick out a black skirt with a lemonade pink colored blouse. Mother says pink makes my eyes more blue than they already are.

"I'm ready now." I announce as I walk down our grand staircase. Both my parents are waiting in the foyer. They each take my hand as we apparate into Diagon Alley. I've always seemed to be okay with apparateing. Father says it cause they've been doing it with me long before I can remember.

I walk with my hand still entangled with my father's. He leads me through all the shops untill we stop at a shop called Olivanders. Another three person family is in front, looking as if they are waiting for someone.

"Ah Lucius," My father let's go of my hand. "Long time since we last saw each other." He smirks to a man with long platinum blonde hair.

The man replies with a slight chuckle, "Long time meaning yesterday, Niram."

A woman next to the man smiles at my mother, "Asa, dear, I'm delighted we made this arrangement."

"As am I, Narcissa." My mother puts her hand on my shoulder, "This is my daughter Thalia, Thalia these are the Malfoys. They are great friends of your father and I."

"Hello, it's is a pleasure to meet you all." I bow a little to show the family some respect. So these are the people that live two blocks from my own manor? So my parents were friends with these people and I'm just now meeting them after eleven years?

Their young boy, with platinum blonde just like his father's and ice blue eyes, holds out his hand. "I'm Draco, Draco Malfoy." I take his hand. At this moment I feel as if taking Draco Malfoy's hand would lead to the biggest event in my entire life.

"Well children, it is time to get your wands." My father opens the door to the shop. Draco softly pushes me in first, not far behind. Our mothers both stay outside, chatting and smiling to each other.

"Hello, here for your fist wands?" An old man comes from a shelf full of wands up to the front desk. He smiles brightly at us.

I smile back, "Yes sir."

"Miss Guant, I new you would be coming very soon. I suspect you will take rather well to a quite powerful wand." The old man turns to Draco, "Mister Malfoy, I can already imagine you with a very elegantly made wand."

"That's no suprise there," Draco softly scoffs next to me. I can tell that, like me, he is trying to hold a very calm composure but is jumping with excitement on the inside.

The old man left and brought back two boxes of wands. He handed one to the pair of us. I opened the box to find a very thick wand. I already didn't feel attached to it.

"Wave it dear," My father calls from behind me. I wave the wand swiftly with a strong and elegant flick of my wrist. A strong flame bursts from the tip of the wand. I frown in embarrassment.

Olivander takes the wand back. I turn and watch Draco. He waves his wand and a bright shining light flows around him. He smiles wildly. He sees that I'm watching him and immediately turns his smile off, trying to hide it best he could.

"It's beautiful," I whisper to the boy. He smiles again,

"Thank you, Guant."

"Call me Thalia."

The old man comes back with another box. I open it to reveal a long dark wooded wand with a bits of curves in it. I wave it again, but this time a dash of sparkles flows all around me.

The man smiles, "Phoenix feather core. Only the most powerful witches and wizards are able to posses it. You my dear have been the only Guant in many years to posses a wand as loyal and as powerful like that."

"Whoa," Draco says quietly. "That's pretty cool if I say so myself."

I grin widely, "Thanks Malfoy."

"Call me Draco."
