A/n I think y'all are really gonna like this chapter. It's finally getting interesting! And I'm gonna introduce you to some new characters... (speaking of which, I've updated the cast list, added a new character to it and changed the actor of Sebastian, so check that out).
The summer went by really quickly. I hung out with Sam, helped look after Danyol and got to know my future roommate, Clara-Mae.
I found out that that she was majoring in History and doing a minor in English, but she wasn't sure what she wanted to do once she left college. She was going to share the apartment with her friend Alexis, but apparently Alexis's mom had already rented her a place closer to campus, and refused to let her share with Clara-Mae. That was why she had the ad up, so I guess as much as it sucked for Clara that she wasn't going to be living with her best friend, I was also kinda grateful because I doubted that I'd be able to find an apartment so cheap and reasonably close to campus otherwise. We talked about all sorts of things, from exes to first kisses, and the family and friends we are leaving behind.

When I got to New York with Sam we went to their campus first and then walked around mine. My things were being delivered from home tomorrow, so Sam was gonna smuggle me back to their's for tonight. After visiting Sam's campus we went over to mine to explore. It was absolutely incredible, and I was so excited to finally be here. We were walking across a field in campus from the Dining Hall to the building that most of my classes this semester when I heard Sam suddenly start yelling.
A woosh of wind passed me; they grabbed my arm out of the way at the last second as a black motorbike sped on the ground right where I'd just been standing. It pulled over, and the guy riding it glanced over at me for a second. Holy shit he's attractive. Never thought I'd be jealous of a motorbike but damn... I have got to get a hold of my damn hormones. The guy nearly ran me over for godsakes! He looked me up and down. I felt my cheeks burn and internally scolded myself. What a prick. First he nearly kills me, then he checks me out! The audacity. The guy gave a slight shake of the head and shrugs, and then rode off.
"He didn't even apologize! What a dick!" Sam exclaimed. I nodded in agreement, still unable to speak.
"But at the same time, damn, did you see those cheekbones?!" they gave a wolfwhistle, and I laughed.
"Sam, the guy nearly killed me! Just because he looks nice doesn't mean he gets a free pass to be a douche."
"Does this mean you'd kill me if I got his number then?" they teased.
I rolled my eyes before saying, deadpan, "Yes. I'd slit your throat and hide you in a dumpster."
"Jeez dude, remind me not to get on your bad side!" a voice piped up from a passerby, "Georgina, but you can call me Georgie. This is my brother Micha," she held out her hand for me to shake.
Georgie had wavy blonde hair that came down to her shoulders and pale green eyes that contrasted with Micha's brown hair and brown eyes. I stared at them in confusion as I shook her hand.
"Oh, yeah, no we're not actually related. We've been next-door neighbors since forever so we're practically siblings," Georgie giggled. I gave a quick glance at Micha. Oof, brother zoned. He was grinning too, though, and ruffled her hair, so I guess they really were like siblings.
"So what's your major?" Sam asked.
"Economics."
"Theatre studies."They both answered at the same time.
"I don't get why he's doing economics, it's so boring and mathsy," Georgie sighed.
"Pfft, says the one studying drama. What's even the point?" Micha teased her.
We walked around campus for a bit longer before deciding it was time for a caffeine boost. We wandered around the streets near the campus looking for a nearby café we could use as our designated hangout between classes. I could just picture it: cute, not too expensive, kinda wannabe hipsterish with that warm coffee smell and a fanfiction-like aura. Basically like Central Perk from Friends.
Unfortunately, after walking for an hour we still couldn't find a decent café. The closest we got was a vintagy diner that smelt of stale coffee and fried meat. It was red and white, with black tiles on the floor and black stools at the counter.
"Hey, what can I get for you guys today?" a familiar voice asked.
I looked up but for the life of me couldn't place the brunette that stood before me. I glanced at her name tag before it hit me -Alexis! This must be Clara-Mae's best friend, I thought. One time I'd facetimed her and Alexis had been at her house, so I greeted her.
"Alexis, Clara's friend, right?" She nodded, "It's me, Avery, her new roommate!"
Alexis nodded and smiled half heartedly, but wouldn't meet my eyes. Had I done something? Maybe she was just jealous that she couldn't live with Clara... Yeah, that must be it, though she'd seemed really nice before, and not really the jealous type. Oh well, I'll just have to ask Clara-Mae about it.
Alexis took down our orders: a blueberry muffin for Sam, a doughnut for me, a hotdog for Micha and a stack of pancakes for Georgie. And, of course, lattes all round. We had to test out this coffee before deciding on it being the hangout.
After having our lattes and food, me and Sam exchanged numbers with Georgie and Micha and went on our way.
All exhausted from our day of travelling, nearly being run over, and meeting new people, me and Sam went to sleep pretty much as soon as we got back to her new place. It was pretty big big considering the location and budget, and the furniture, though simple, was bold and vibrant. It was very Sam, and although I felt a twinge of sorrow that we wouldn't be living together, I was happy that their apartment was so good.

The next day I woke up to Sam dancing around the sofa I was on to Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham! Sam always did love to be cheesy and annoying. I groaned and threw a cushion at them. I was not a morning person, to say the least.
I didn't bother getting changed before heading to my new apartment. My stuff would be arriving in the next hour so I had to scope out the place and agree with Clara-Mae where everything was gonna go.
I checked my phone. 6 missed calls from Clara-Mae.
Eh, I'll just see what she wants when I get to the apartment.
It was only a few blocks away so I walked there.
I was so excited when I knocked on the door. This was it. I was finally becoming independent. But then the door opened, and...
"What the fuck?!"
