"What the fuck?!"
The door opened, but to my dismay (and confusion) the person who opened the door wasn't Clara-Mae, the girl I'd grown to genuinely like over the last few months, but instead the dickhead that nearly ran me over yesterday! What's more, he didn't seem surprised to see me. He just grunted and walked to the fridge.
I stormed through the door.
"Why are you here? Where's Clara-Mae? What have you done to my roommate?" I demanded.
He chuckled, a deep low rumble. My anger subsided slightly at the beautiful sound, but then I remember why I was pissed.
"Stop laughing! Now answer me."
"Calm down Queenie. One question at a time," he took a big glue of orange juice. Straight from the bottle. Ugh he knows just how to annoy me! If you had a girlfriend she wouldn't do that... Shut up! I mentally scolded myself. Now is not the time to be questioning your sexuality!
"In answer to your little rant over there: I'm here because I live here; I don't know nor care where some chick called Clara-Mae is; and I didn't do anything to her. Well," he smirked, "Nothing she didn't want me to at least."
I cringed, "Ew you're disgusting!"
"Nah, I'm just too hot to resist, Princess," he winked.
Who does this guy think he is? He's not even that good looking! OK, so maybe that's a lie, but still.
"Dick."
"All you have to do is ask, Queenie".
I ran into the room that Clara-Mae had given me directions to "Incase she wasn't home to show me to it". I slammed the door shut, sat on the bed that came with the apartment, and whipped out me phone.
"Clara, where the hell are you and why is there some random jerk in our apartment!" I said, gritting my teeth and seething with anger.
She laughed nervously.
"Well, um, you see the thing is..." I glared at her, "I sorta maybe am living with Alexis now?"
"And you didn't even give me a heads up? I'm still wearing yesterday's clothes! I just made a terrible first impression the guy that I'm now apparently living with, and you couldn't have just dropped me a message to say 'oh yeah by the way you're living with some other dude now'! Is this why Alexis was so weird yesterday?"
"You saw Alexis yesterday?"
"Yeah me and my friends went to the diner she works at," I grumbled. My anger had now left me and I was sulking.
"Look, I'm really sorry Ave, I just found out last night. I tried calling you but you never picked up," I nodded slightly. I guess that was fair enough.
"But basically Alexis's roommate decided to go travelling last minute and dropped out. So now I'm staying with her. I'm sorry, I was really looking forward to living with you."
"OK. Have fun, I guess... Do you and Alexis wanna hang out with me, Sam and a couple of others that we met yesterday? Alexis has already met them all."
"Sure, that'd be nice," she smiled tentatively, clearly glad at the loss of tension.
"Great. We're meeting up at Lulu's Diner at 2:30. Bye," I hung up. What? Just because I invited her to meet up doesn't mean I 100% forgive her yet. She did essentially abandon me to this random hot guy.
My things arrived, and I hauled the boxes up to the hallway.
"Could you help me with this furniture?" I asked my new roommate. He didn't respond. At all. Nothing, nada, he completely blanked me. "Please?" I huff. This guy was really gonna get on my nerves.
He put a finger up while texting someone on his phone, as if to tell me to wait. The heavy box I was carrying containing most of my books was hurting my back so I adjusted my position so it was mainly resting on my hip.
"Dude, come on, are you gonna help me or not?" I snapped. I was far too done with people today to be dealing with this arsehole. He eventually looked up and stopped whatever he was doing on his phone.
"What?" He said angrily and glared at me. I was slightly scared, I mean his entire demeanor had changed so quickly, and I wasn't happy about dealing with a furious testosterone filled male who could easily break my bones if he wanted to. But at the same time, I really did need some help with my stuff. I was way too weak to carry some of it through.
"C-can you help me with this please?" I asked more timidly.
He groaned loudly and mumbled something about stupid weak chicks, before turning around and walking away. He went into his room and slammed the door.
"I'll take that as a no then," I huffed.
I rang up Sam, to no avail as they didn't answer, then Clara-Mae. Might as well get some free labor out of her ditching me.
She and Alexis both came over, apologizing to me profusely as they arrived. The three of us worked hard and got everything into the right places, setting up furniture and organizing my things. We chatted as we worked, and I felt my bad tidings towards the pair melt away completely. Soon enough it was time to meet the others at the diner.
"Hey guys, was there a secret meeting we didn't know about?" Georgie questioned as we all walked in together.
"Yes, it's a conspiracy! We're planning meetings without you," Alexis said.
Micha and Georgie laughed as the rest of us sat at the window booth the pair had snagged us.
Sam burst through the door, looked over at us all and hurried over to us with a manic look on their face.
"Guys," they said, panting slightly.
"Did you run here-" Micha began to question them.
"No time - to - explain! Lessons - sign up - now - starting - best ones - gone - hurry!"
We all glanced at one another before standing up and stampeding through the door to campus. How had we not remembered that today was the day we signed up for this semesters classes? And to think Sam, who goes to a different college to us, was the only one who remembered!
We all raced through the mobs of students as well as we could to get to the sign-up sheets for the most popular courses. Luckily we all knew what classes we had in common (or hoped to have in common) with each other, so we split up to sign everyone up for the things they wanted. Then we headed back to the diner and plonked ourselves down at the booth, which Sam had stayed at.
"Got y'all some lattes," they grinned at us.
A/n As you can see, I've decided to also post on Saturdays. Sometimes I might do Sundays as well as/instead of Saturdays, it just depends on my schedule each week. I've also updated the cast list (yes again, sorry)
