"So, why did the Traveler leave, Zavala?" Cayde asked as he leaned back in a chair in Zavala's ship.
"No one knows." Zavala started. "We can only assume it either got tired of protecting us, didn't think we deserved it's protection, or something worse."
"Worse?" Cayde asked. "How could anything be worse? We don't have our giant spherical friend in the sky anymore!"
"We understand that, Cayde." Ikora started. "But what should we do? Right now our focus is on finding the Dying Light and bringing them to justice."
"And how do you expect we do that?" Cayde asked as he stood up. "Just look to the starts and yell 'hey if you're in Dying Light please yell back'?"
"Cayde, you know that's not how it works. I have a light-detecting device on my ship. Any light within a certain distance will be detected on this radar and we will go down to it and investigate." Zavala explained to Cayde.
"That evens the odds slightly to our favor, actually." Cayde responded.
"Indeed." Ikora added.
"So-- I mean, I know you guys are all justice be served and all but what if we can't-- what if we can't bring them back over to the light?" Cayde started. "I mean, the Traveler left. They have literally no reason to come back."
"Then we will have to give them one." Zavala added.
"How?" Cayde asked.
"We simply explain how big of an opportunity it is being a Guardian." Ikora started. "Being a Guardian is so much more than running around, traveling to different planets shooting at hostile alien armies. Being a Guardian means upholding the laws of the universe. Protecting the ones without power. The Traveler chose us for a reason."
"Wow." Zavala said as he and Cayde listened to Ikora's speech.
"You have a way with words, Ikora." Cayde said. "So, we find the Dying Light, state the obvious, and in the off chance that they agree with us, they just come back and continue being Guardians? What happens if they don't agree?"
"Then we stop them. No matter the cost." Zavala replied.
Just then, the light detector began beeping.
The Vanguards ran to the front of the ship to view the detector.
"What is it saying, Zavala?" Ikora asked.
"We're going to Nessus." Zavala added.
