*Dakota's POV*

"Miss, stay here," the paramedic told me as some others wheeled Addie away on a stretcher.

"No, that's my best friend!" I yelled. I tried to run after her but someone grabbed my waist and held me back. I turned around to see Jack.

"Let them do their job," Jack told me.

"How can you be calm?" I asked.

The ambulance sirens got quieter as the ambulance left. Addie's brothers, the why don't we boys, and I were all standing on the front lawn, watching it leave. Addie's parents were in the ambulance with her. I couldn't believe it. Addie had attempted suicide. Or committed it. Either way, she had cut herself. Why?

I sat down on the grass and put my head in my lap. I couldn't right now. I didn't want to do anything right now. What if my Addie was really gone?

Jack sat next to me and rubbed my back. I couldn't move. I couldn't even function properly. What the hell? I was with Addie earlier.

I picked my head up and the rest of the Why Don't We boys were staring at me.

"Are you okay?" Corbyn asked.

"We're here for you," Zach said.

"It isn't your fault," Jonah said.

"You didn't know this was going to happen," Daniel said.

I sighed and put my head back in my hands.

"I'm a shitty friend," I said.

"Maybe you guys should go," Nathan told us.

"Nathan, will you call me when you find out anything?" I asked.

"Uh," Nathan said and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Nathan," I said.

"Yeah, I'll try," Nathan shrugged, not making eye contact. It was clear, he blamed me for this. They probably all did. I was last one with Addie. I was the one she was supposedly with when she got drunk. All three brothers, including Nathan, walked back inside their house. I looked at the Why Don't We boys.

"Okay, we should take you home," Daniel said.

"Obviously she's not okay. She should come back to the hotel room with us," Jack said.

"No, I'm fine. Just, can someone drive me home?" I asked.

"I'll drive you home, you'll have to give me directions though," Jack said.

"Okay," I nodded.

"How are you going to get back to the hotel?" Zach asked Jack.

"I'll just stay at Dakota's," Jack shrugged.

"Jack, my mom will freak," I said.

"So? You shouldn't be alone with the situation you're in," Jack told me.

He stopped rubbing my back and put his arm around me.

"Yeah, totally not dating," Zach rolled his eyes.

"Jack likes Dakota, Jack likes Dakota," Daniel teased.

Jack stung a tongue out at them but didn't move his arm. I stood up and his arm fell back to his side. He stood up too.

"Just take me home," I told him, handing him my car keys and then walking to my car.

"Feisty," Jonah laughed. I turned around to say something but instead saw Jack hit him. I rolled my eyes and got in my car.

Jack walked over to the car and got in the driver side. All the other boys got into their rental car and drove away.

"Don't you have a show in the morning or something else you should be running off too? Something that will make you forget about me and Addie and that any of this ever happened?" I asked.

"I can't forget you or Addie or what happened tonight," Jack replied.

"Well, try. We don't need this in our life. We don't need all these added problems," I snapped.

"I'm not going to forget, Dakota. I wouldn't want to," Jack shook his head.

"Take me home. Then run off in the morning so I can try to forget it," I said.

Jack didn't say anything to this, he just took me home.
