9 - The Concert

*Dakota's POV*

I drove to the same place I had drove the day before. This time without Addie and this time I would not be kidnapping Jack. I grabbed my ticket and there was no one outside. I was pretty sure I was late. I was about to get out of my car when someone walked out of the venue. It was Jack, no doubt. I would recognize that curly hair anywhere.

He stood against the wall, leaned his head back on it and closed his eyes. He was breathing heavy from the way of how fast his chest was moving. I got out of my car and Jack opened his eyes. We stared at each other for a while. Then I walked up to him and held up my ticket.

"You saw I left it," Jack said.

"Yeah," I nodded.

"Listen, Dakota. We haven't even known each other for 24 hours but I feel like we instantly clicked," Jack said.

I nodded at him and leaned on the wall next to him.

"We're good together, you and me," Jack said.

"Jack, I'm still really freaked out with everything that happened with Addie," I admitted.

"I am too, why do you think I'm out here getting fresh air instead of in there with my band mates performing?" Jack asked.

"I don't know," I shrugged.

"I'm so glad you came," Jack said, "I didn't think you would."

"I'm glad I came too," I nodded.

"Do you want to come inside? You can hang out backstage until the concert is over with Eben," Jack said.

"Okay," I nodded.

(Time skip - concert is almost over)

"So, how did you meet Jack again?" Eben asked for about the seventh time.

"My best friend tried to kidnap him," I said.

"Wow, okay," Eben nodded.

"Yeah, it sounds crazy," I said.

"Wait a minute. She actually tried to kidnap him?" Eben asked.

"Yes, Eben!" I laughed.

Jack ran backstage with the rest of the boys.

"Hey, Dakota," Jonah waved at me.

"Totally not dating," Zach laughed.

"Okay, let's go," Jack said.

We walked into a different room where we could talk alone.

"Dakota, this might sound crazy, but I feel like I've known you forever. Way longer than I actually have anyway," Jack said.

"Me too, but with you," I nodded.

Jack and I just stood there for a second, neither saying anything. We stared at each other and then at the floor then back at each other.

"Dakota, you're amazing," Jack said.

He touched the side of my face and leaned into kiss me when my phone started buzzing in my pocket. We both pulled back and I checked my phone. It was Addie's brother telling me Addie was awake.

And she wanted to talk to me.
