"You look amazing." Lucas says over my shoulder. He leans down and kisses my neck. I smile as I turn around to face him, taking his face in my hands so I can give him a kiss.

"We better head to the gala. We don't want to waste our fake invitation." Lucas says with a smirk. I smile a smile that's full of excitement and trouble.

Lucas and I are the Bonnie and Clyde of the 21st century. We run around robbing banks, holding hostages, and taking whatever we want without looking back, except to see the chaos we've left behind for the city to try and clean up.

Tonight is a big night. The MET Gala is this evening and the theme is diamonds. What a stupid theme. They're basically asking for all the criminals of the area to sneak in. Lucas and I, however, have ties everywhere and we got an actual invitation.

I'm wearing a shimmering silver gown that enhances my curves, along with a simple yet magnificent diamond necklace. If you're wondering, yes, I definitely stole it.

Our plan is to divide and conquer. We're expert pick-pockets, and taking a jewel off of a girl here or there won't be noticed at all.

I spot the perfect victim and make my way over, but i'm suddenly stopped by a guy wearing the most extravagant suit i've ever seen. It is covered in beautiful jewels, some red, some blue, some yellow, some emerald. But as I take a closer look, I realize that almost all of them are fakes. But very good fakes. I look up at the face of owner of this fake masterpiece.

He's kind of nerdy looking. He's kind of lanky, but still has a bit of muscle. His short brown hair is standing up straight in the front. He has bright blue eyes that could hypnotize any woman who wasn't careful. Thankfully, I was. Those piercing eyes wouldn't phase me one bit.

"Excuse me, but do I know you?" I ask, trying to sound charming but annoyance still creeps in.

"I don't believe so. But I definitely know you." He leans down next to my ear and whispers. "Riley Matthews, one of the most wanted criminals in the nation."

My heart starts to beat rapidly. Is he an undercover cop? He definitely has the build to be one.

"What do you want?" I ask quickly.

"Relax. I'm not a cop. I'm a fan. I've been following you and Lucas since Philadelphia."

I smile vainly. That was a good heist, no wonder he's a fan. I regain my composure. "Well if you're a fan then you would know not to disturb me right now."

"Actually, it's because I'm a fan that I am definitely going to continue disturbing you because this is all a set up."

"It's a what?" I say, not really believing him.

"The police are here undercover. They have eyes on you and Lucas everywhere. You even touch any of the jewels here and you'll have five cops on you in ten seconds." He crosses his arms and stares me down, almost daring me to try something.

I get close to his face, only inches away. "Stay away from me and let me do my business. I've been at this for almost two years and never gotten caught." I look him up and down. "But you should already know that." I turn and walk away, looking around for a new victim.

I find her and make my way over. I'm about to slip her diamond bracelet off when I feel a gun to my back.

"Miss Matthews, you are under arrest."

I lean my head against the bars of the holding cell. I can't believe this happened. Lucas promised we would be fine at the gala. The bastard didn't even get caught. Apparently he ducked out when he spotted an officer he recognized but completely failed to tell me. Just another thing to add to the ever growing list of reasons to leave him.
