Shortly after Ronny and Thomas left the gas station, they were back in the forest. Both Ronny and Thomas were somewhat lost as Omar only told them to head north to find his group. By now, the sound of the ocean water hitting the rocks on shore had faded away, which to Ronny was concerning as that was his only help of knowing his location. Before, he heard it on his right side, but now that it was gone, Ronny was going off of chance that he was headed in the right way.
As they walked, they heard a faint groan. It sounded different from a biter. It sounded like a human in pain. Both Ronny and Thomas took out their guns as they followed the groan. As they got closer to the sound, a person appeared to be laying on the ground as they swayed back and forth. Ronny remained cautious as he approached the person. It was a female, she was holding her leg in pain as Ronny saw blood soaking through her military uniform.
Ronny tried to remain quiet as he approached her, however she somehow heard him and grabbed her gun to aim it at Ronny. Ronny aimed his own gun at the woman. She said, "Fuck you, you're not taking me. Not if you wanna live". Ronny said, "Why would I kill you? You aimed the gun at me first". Thomas approached the confrontation as he aimed his gun at the woman as well. The woman said, "Don't act stupid with me. You hunted me down. You didn't want me to get the word out". Ronny was confused as he said, "What are you talking about"? The woman carefully examined Ronny and Thomas and said, "No. You can't be them. You're clean". She then lowered her gun as Ronny said, "What are you talking about clean"? The woman began to grab her leg again as she attempted to stand up. She said, "I'm sure you know who the Undead Islanders are". When she saw Ronny was still confused, she said, "They've set up camps all over the island. While they're very unorganized, there's a lot of them. They cover themselves in the organs of the undead. It's hard to pick them out of a group of hostiles". Ronny realized she was talking about Omar's people as he said, "What news did they try and stop you from delivering"? She leaned against a tree as she said, "Apparently, they're planning an attack on my people". Ronny looked again at the woman and saw her military uniform as he said, "Were are you located"? She said, "Well we have a small camp just northwest of here but recently --". An arrow went through her head, penetrating from the back of her head as the tip exited through her right eye. She stuttered her words as she felt to the ground. Ronny and Thomas, once again, took out their guns as they hid behind trees. Ronny whispered, "Did you see where that came from"? Thomas shook his head as Ronny signaled to Thomas that he was going to scope the area. As Ronny peeked his head from around the tree, an arrow whizzed by his head as it lodged into the tree he was hiding behind. Thomas had a bit more cover than Ronny as the tree he was hiding behind had tall brush near it. Thomas ran behind the brush as he scoped the area. Thomas saw the person trying to kill them. He was still focused on Ronny's location, so Thomas snuck around the person. As the person began to close in on Ronny's position, they felt the end of a gun aimed at their head as Thomas said, "Drop it". The person dropped their bow and arrows as Ronny appeared from behind the tree. Ronny saw it was a young man. He was covered in biter guts, just as the military woman said. Ronny said, "Who are you"? The man didn't respond, but instead attempted to grab his bow and arrows. But as he reached for them, Thomas put a bullet through his head. Then it was silent.
Ronny and Thomas looked at the man's corpse as Thomas said, "Could he have been with Omar's people"? Ronny was unsure what to make of the entire situation. So many questions ran through his head. Was this man with Omar? If so why did he attack Ronny? But the biggest question was - Was the woman involved with the dealings at Mount Vernon? Ronny ignored Thomas's question and said, "You think she was with the people at Mount Vernon"? Thomas said, "Well she said she had a camp on the island. It might just be a coincidence. Besides, if she was with the people at Mount Vernon, then why would they send her out here this far from their base"? Ronny hoped she wasn't with Mount Vernon because he knew that if his group wasn't dead, then they'd have to be at Mount Vernon. He tried to ignore it as he and Thomas kept walking.
