Chapter VII

Gavin watched Xavier talk with Sarah. He saw Sarah kiss Xavier which was followed by Frank and Xavier arguing with each other. Gavin was too far away to hear what they were saying. Standing next to Gavin was Tyler. He was also watching the group as Tyler said, "Do you see what you're group has become"? Gavin said, "Xavier and Frank hate each other. Sarah is being only sympathetic to Xavier". Tyler said, "It's only because she feels the same way as Xavier. They both don't trust me or my men. Frank, however, has proved his worth. He's done nothing less than perfection. We need to make sure Xavier doesn't do anything to harm Frank, as losing him would be very unfortunate for our cause". They both continued to watch the group as they drove off into the distance. Gavin said, "Where are they going"? He looked at Tyler who had a serious expression displayed on his face. Tyler said, "The coal plant. We need fuel".

Meanwhile, Ronny and Thomas were walking as they had been the entire day. As the day went along, it grew colder. Ronny and Thomas saw over the past few days that a few leaves on the trees begun to change from green to orange and red. A breeze picked up as Ronny and Thomas hugged their own bodies to deflect the cold winds. Thomas said, "Forget being covered in biter guts, I'd much rather be covered in layers on jackets". Ronny said, "We've been walking for quite a long time. We have to almost be there". As Ronny said that, they saw a clearing in the forest. Once they made it to the clearing, they were both in awe and in horror. In front of them was a huge quarry. Around the edge of the quarry was lined with forest except for one small section which appeared to be a small town on the other side from where Ronny and Thomas were. They both saw things moving in the quarry. From where they were they were unsure of what they saw. Thomas took our a pair of binoculars and observed the area. In the quarry were thousands of biters which to Ronny and Thomas was almost unreal. As Thomas continued to look, he saw a dirt road that snaked back and forth along the steep wall furthest from them that led up to the small town across the quarry. All along the road there were corpses and blood everywhere. As Thomas tried to make sense of everything, he saw a person appear from the village and begin to descend into the massive herd. Thomas looked closer at the person to see that they were wearing biter skin in the same way one would wear a poncho.

Ronny asked, "Do you see anyone in that village"? Instead of answering, Thomas handed Ronny the binoculars as Ronny saw the person enter the herd of biters. They walked slowly as they maneuvered their way through the herd. Before Ronny could see what would happen next, he felt something pull him to the ground as he was dragged into the forest. Once he stopped moving, he saw it was Thomas who pulled him. As Ronny tried to get up, Thomas kept him down, "Don't move" he said. He then pointed to the tree that was right behind his own head. Ronny saw a red dot that kept swaying back and forth. Ronny slowly tried to peek between some bushes near him as he looked through his binoculars. Across the quarry by the village, he saw a person aiming a sniper near Ronny's location as another person stood near the sniper with their own pair of binoculars. Ronny said, "What do we do"? Thomas said, "I think there's only one thing we can do unless if one of use wants to get shot". They both sat down and looked at the red dot that still searched for them as they waited for it to disappear.

As the day turned to evening, the dot eventually went away. As soon as it did, Ronny slowly and cautiously turned around to look at the village again. He took out his binoculars and saw the sniper walk back to the village. Ronny collapsed as both he and Thomas sighed in relief. However, since the sun was beginning to set, the cold winds felt colder and seemed to linger longer. Both Ronny and Thomas really began to feel it as they both began to shiver. Thomas said, "So they person who walked in the quarry was wearing biter skin. That definitely seems like something Omar would do". Ronny said, "So do you think these are Omar's people"? Thomas said, "It's our best bet". Ronny said, "Well, lets go find out". Thomas said, "And how do we do that"? Ronny said, "We knock on the door".
