Phew, finally a new story after over 2 years! O__o Took me a lot of courage and rolling around to decide whether I should post this or not. Hopefully it's ok enough...

All the chapters are still in the works and so far, I have done until Chapter 8 so I could probably update fast but I won't because all the chapters I have in store will finish up fast! lol and it's common for me to have writer's block so yea...

Anyhow, enough rambling and let's get down to business!

........

Ryder was a mean kid. He was rough, demanding and a bit on the sadistic side despite being a five year old.

And he took an interest on a certain pup by the name Taylor.

'Tally', as people called Taylor, was everything Ryder loved. He was adorable, kind, naive and timid. His naivety could only mean easy manipulation by the Devil's child.

Definitely Ryder's thing.

He also particularly loved Tally's tears.

They were like crystals on his rosy cheek when he cried and his quivering voice was 'adorable' as Ryder would describe it. High-pitched but not annoying like the screeching pitch possessed by the female pups in the pack. Tally was just an exception in that area in Ryder's world.

But he loved Tally's smile too, perhaps a bit more than his crying.

Then why did he often make Tally cry?

Ryder loved the feeling of superiority and the feeling of being the only 'special' one for Tally. When Tally cried, he felt superior. He could either continue making him cry even more or comfort him.

Or watched until the adults come and scold him but he'll continue watching until the last sniffle.

Tally was also friendly. He could easily give his smile to anyone as long as he was treated with kindness.

And Ryder hated that.

He wanted to be the only one in Tally's world. He hated the fact that his Tally's angelic smile was given away so easily. It was supposed to be for him and him only. So he resorted to second best.

His tears.

Whenever Tally cried, it was because of him. He was the only one who could make Tally cry, the only one Tally would remember whenever he shed tears. That way, Ryder would always be in Tally's mind, whether it was out of fear or love, it didn't matter. He was in Tally's mind and that was all that mattered; the feeling of being the only 'special' one for Tally.

Sometimes they went along well, sometimes they didn't and always because Ryder was being mean again.

Just like now.

"You're so mean, Ryder! I hate you!" the pup wailed, his chubby face stained with tears and cheek rosy from emotions. He sobbed, wiping away his tears with his forearms and brought his knees close to his chest.

Ryder watched, smirking inwardly. He approached the crying pup slowly and kneeled down in front of him, trying to peek at his favourite face from behind the arms. Tally peeked through his bangs before covering his eyes again with his arms and turned away from Ryder, making a 'hmph!' sound between his sniffles.

Humming happily to himself, Ryder wrapped his arms around the little boy, a pleased smile on his face. Tally didn't struggle but his crying still didn't cease. He did however lean into the embrace - a very subtle response but did not went unnoticed by Ryder.

Ryder's amusement did not last for long though as Tally's overprotective father, Jake, sauntered over with steams over his head. He had just come back from his work and his favourite son being bullied was not the first thing he was anticipating.

Ryder let out a short whine when Tally was wrenched out from his hug. He tilted his head up, dark eyes meeting with equally angry ones. He snarled, baring his canine and pupils hued with sinister yellow. Jake growled lowly at the back of his throat but that didn't faze Ryder at all. If anything, it urged him to return it with equal intensity.

Seeing no benefit from wasting his time anymore with the troublemaker, Jake turned on his heels and walked away, rubbing comforting circles on Tally's back. Tally sniffed into his father's shoulders, clenching the shirt tightly. His teary eyes sneakily stealing glances at Ryder.

Ryder's glare softened slightly when he caught Tally glimpsing at him secretly a number of times. He grinned in satisfaction, locking gazes with those endearing teary eyes.

'Mine...'
