A MATCH MADE IN HELL

FREYJA'S GRANDPARENTS HADN'T EVEN batted an eye when Brandon asked if he could stay for the weekend. In fact, her grandmother jumped at the learning of her granddaughter's boyfriend, and had told her that she could avoid school that day.  "Frey," Brandon smiled but only she could see the anger rising in his eyes. "You didn't tell me about the Halloween dance." Her grandparents stopped in their tracks before looking at the brunette who would've been shaking visibly if it weren't for her amazing acting skills.

"I hadn't gotten around to it," She lied. "Besides, I didn't think you'd want to go to some silly high school dance while you were here. You hated those back at home." He smirked before wrapping his arm around her in what must've looked like a flirtatious gesture.

"Well," He said. "If you were planning to go you should go. Besides, I would love to meet your friends here like those boys we saw at the park last night."

"Why were you at the park last night?" Her grandfather growled obviously feeling protective of his daughter's child. "You know how dangerous it is around here now, Freyja. Why would you be out and about at night." She rubbed her face before pushing herself up.

"I hope you don't mind," She said turning to Brandon. "I told Christina I'd go shopping for costumes with her, and I don't want her to feel third wheeled, Bran. My grandfather has a few costumes that should fit you." She waited until Christina came down after eavesdropping. She wore a confused expression, but luckily planted on a fake smile.

"Ready?" She asked before Freyja nodded.

      ✡

Christina walked quietly beside cousin before looking up at her, "I don't understand, Frey. You never mentioned having a boyfriend to me. Who is this guy?" Someone I can't escape, she wanted to say. However, the words wouldn't form. She couldn't tell this to Christina. She'd tell their grandparents, and her past would be out in display. Not to mention, Brandon would be quick to take as many people as he could down with him. She didn't want anyone getting hurt. She shook her head.

"It just slipped my mind," She lied before Christina stepped in front of her.

"Everyone has been talking," She whispered. "That you and Roman have been seeing each other. What about that, Frey. I told you to stay away from those boys Peter and Roman, I mean. You didn't, and that is your choice, but why would you be seeing Roman and dating Brandon. It doesn't make any sense." Freyja stepped away from her before rolling her eyes.
