FREYJA COULD FEEL WATER beneath her body and for a moment she felt weightless. As if, nothing could drag her down to the bottom, but with each passing feeling she felt the water reject her. It began to nip at her bare skin and drag her limbs into the lake she was laying in. Above her, stars littered the sky whispering suicidal nothings. Her mind was beginning to clutter with words that she couldn't push away. She heard a splash as something entered the water, but her body wouldn't move to see. Instead she was forced to wait until the stranger's hand was pushing her down into the water. She felt herself swallow water, and her lungs began to suffocate. She felt herself quite literally fighting for her life, but the sweet nothings that the stars whispered hadn't stopped. "Everyone is the enemy." It was then that the water's blur faded, and she knew exactly who was ripping her soul out from inside her. His fangs appeared, and she was no longer fighting the water, but instead she was fighting Roman.

She heard a honk sink through the air, and she would absolutely blind not to recognize the red jaguar lingering in her grandparents driveway. The dream had left her in complete shambles, not to mention what she'd felt just the night before. Roman scared her, and she had hoped that the feeling would subside with all of the growing feelings she felt for him. She knew what he was, or at least what he could become, and she had never felt such a consuming feeling. "Frey," She heard Christina's voice cut through her dark thoughts. "Is that Roman outside?"
"I guess so," Freyja replied in a whisper as she threw her hair up in a sloppy ponytail. She tugged her sweater down before taking a deep breath in. "I'll see you later, Chris." She slipped her bag over her head before heading out to the boy that still somehow made her heart swell despite the warnings she'd already received. She could see the thought stretched across her face before she even reached his car, but it was replaced with a smile when she planted herself in the driver's seat. "I didn't know you were picking me up." A smirk covered his face.
"I didn't know I had to tell you," He said before finding Christina's lingering eyes. "Does she want a ride?"
"She hates you," Freyja replied without much thought. Roman's smirk only grew as he put the car into reverse.
"Join the club," despite her want to push herself always she couldn't help but laugh. She didn't want to push away the one person that made her feel human. So, she decided not to. She set her hand above his before interlacing their fingers and forming his smirk to a smile. He let go of the wheel long enough to higher the radioand light a cigarette, and she easily grabbed it for him to do so.
"You know smoking is a horrible addiction," She said.
"It's not the only one I have," He retorted. They entered the school parking lot with Nirvana blasting through his expensive stereo. It seemed like a cliche story the way people were watching them. Roman Godfrey wasn't one for girlfriends, and he surely wasn't a PDA type of person, but it was clear that Freyja Wendall was different from the moment she stepped into Hemlock Grove. He crossed over to the passenger side and opened the door for her. She smiled brightly at him before he threw his arm carefully around her shoulders.
"You're making a scene," She laughed. He looked at her with amusement filling his blue orbs.
"This isn't a scene, love," He spoke licking his lips. "But I'll give them something to look at if that's what you want." He leaned into her, and she could smell his strong cologne. The metallic smell she'd gotten last night was gone, and any fear had been replaced with something much stronger-maybe adortion...maybe something more beginning, but their lips placed together as if they had been molded for another. "That is a scene." He pulled away before winking at her. "I have something I need to go do, but I'll see you later." It wasn't until he was too far for her to comprehend what had happened. Roman was publically with her, and she wasn't sure if that was a good thing.
When he was with her she could forget the feeling she'd gotten the night before. She could forget the blood, the horror, the death, but he wasn't with her now. And that was eating away at her soul, but she had hope that she could stop it before it would come. Her eyes tore away from the scene, and her eyes were on a blonde girl with blue eyes. They both froze their eyes glued to one another. And something about her made her own stomach turn. This girl was everything she needed to know about Roman, and she knew it.
