Everyday since we hung out at the mall I looked for Alex in the hallways at school, and eventually I found him...up against a locker kissing his girlfriend. Ouch, well that hurt, I knew that I should have expected it though, even if he had been complaining about her the entire time that we were all hanging out at the mall a few weeks ago. He was a boy, and she was a girl, and they had feelings for eachother. No matter how much they may complain about one another there was always going to be this special connection that they had whether or not they stayed together.

He looked up and caught me staring at them, but he beamed a smile at me. I awkwardly smiled back at them as I continued walking down the hall to my class that was directly across from where they were standing.

"Hey Erica, how are you?" he asked me as his girlfriend left to attend her class.

"I'm good, how about yourself?" I asked just trying to be polite. My heart was racing and practically stuck in my throat which made my voice shakier than it usually was, and my hands were getting sweaty where I was holding my books just a reaction from being so close to him. He ran his hand through his moppy hair and I could feel my neck and ears begin to get hot which meant that I was turning red. Right then the bell rang which saved me from being given away due to my feelings. How did he manage to do these things to me?

"I've been good. I'll see you later?" he asked. It made me feel like he cared, and actually wanted to see me again. I just nodded and walked into my classroom with my head in a daze.

The class (French) flew by along with two others and before I knew it, it was lunch time which meant that newspaper class was shortly after, a safe place where I could escape my dizziness that was my mind, and get focused on something useful - like my writing.

When I approached my usual lunch table with my usual friends, I guess that is what you would call them since I sit with the same people everyday even though I don't really know them, it seemed like every other lunch period, but then it happened. There was a large yet soft hand that brushed my shoulder gently and I got a rush of heat right down my spine which made me want to shake from the sheer joy that this boy brought to me. I knew who it was before I even turned around. How could someone that I just met have such a big effect on me already?

"Is it okay if I sit here?" he asked and flashed that beaming smile of his. I was at a loss of words like I had been all morning and just nodded my head in approval. All of my friends stopped talking and stared at us as he squeezed into the already overflowing bench beside me. Let's just say that there was a lot of people who sat at our lunch table.

"Hey Alex! Nice to see that you're expanding away from the she-wolf pack of Ariana," one of the guys laughed out. Everyone laughed. I did not know that so many people knew him, how did I not meet him sooner? Oh yeah, she-wolf pack of one and her snobby friends. I knew his girlfriend in middle school, she was one of the annoying girls who thinks that she is better than everyone else. What I did not expect was that she got such a great guy like Alex to be with him, but then again good guys are attracted to the evil queens.

All of a sudden another newly familiar face appeared.

"ERICA!" he yelled as he came running from the hallway that entered into the cafeteria. I smiled and stood up ready to embrace my hug.

"Wabu!" I yelled back (although not as loudly as he had yelled). I smiled as he wrapped his arms around me in a warm embrace. We had grown quite close in the last few weeks, we even had a few inside jokes between ourselves which included his unusual taste in books.

"Push over," he said to me as he also squeezed onto the bench. Let's just say that I was more than squished, not that I minded, because on each side of me I had one of my new friends.

"Wow Erica, you sure are popular today," one of the girls sitting across from me laughed. I just smiled.

"We're just her new best friends, and we love her SOOOOO much!" Wabu said which I thought that he was being sarcastic, turns out that I was wrong. Those words were genuine.
