CHAPTER ONE: ASGARD

N E B U L A

I look at the piece of machinery, it circuited and practically caught fire in my hand. I flinch at the malfunction, quickly throwing it in dark space. Shit, shit, SHIT!!

I put both hands on my hips, what even was this place. My spaceship crashed down on some rainbow bridge, I was a little concerned as the bridge looked as though it was glass, but thankfully there were no cracks to further worry me.

The bridge had boundaries on it, guess to keep people from falling. I look forward, and wince. I was staring at a whole city of gold, which the sun was reflecting off of and into my poor eyes. The sight itself made it look like some type of heaven. Gross… I thought. “You!” I turned around, ready to pounce as I looked at a guard, perhaps. He was wearing armor, and he was bald with tattoos on his head. “Are you alright?” He asked, I furrow my brows at him, his look was the opposite of his seemingly caring personality.

I removed my left hand from my blade behind my back, I examine the guy once more. “I'm fine…. Thanks, for asking. Where am I?” I spat. The guard was taken aback by my rude behavior, he shrugs it off though, “Asgard.” He replied, I nod, “damn,” I muttered. Asgard knew me well, as it knew Thanos and his destructive manners. I snarled when his name entered my mind, Thanos, man I'd like to see his head plastered on a wall, with my blade stained with his wretched blood while wildebeests feed on his rotting body!!

I take in a breath, deep breaths, deep breaths. “Come, we must take you to the All-father, he'll help you with your ship, and send you on your way,” the man says matter of factly. I nodded, watching him walk past me, I then noticed how extremely long the rainbow bridge was, and he was walking. I inwardly groan, I start to walk beside the guard.

“I'm Skurge by the way,” the guard mentions, as we were now in the city, but still far from the palace. I received looks from the people, even children coming to poke me until their parents pulled them away and scolded them. Guess they've never seen a Luphomoid, or a mechanical one at that. I let out a long sigh through my nose. “Rock,” I said, wanting to mentally slap myself for saying such a thing. Skurge falters in his steps, but continues, “rock?” “My name's Rock,” I quickly lied, which I think was noticeable, as I wasn't one for words. I was a more slit your throat before you retreat kinda girl, “I understand your from another planet, so they probably name their children after objects.”

I look at the man, “uh… yes, my sister's name is Grass,” well, she's the color of grass. Skurge nods, “Rock and Grass…” Skurge says slowly trying to ease the tension that we were strangers.

We were at the gates of the palace, two tall guards stood at the front of the palace. “Here for the All-father” Skurge says cooly, smiling at me. My gaze turned to the guards, one dark-skinned turned to share an annoyed look with the other guard. “The All-father is busy, not to be meddled with by commoners,” the other guard retorts. Skurge was offended, “but- but I'm Skurge, I'm the one watching the Bi-Frost!” He yells, I sigh when the guards made looks at him and Skurge realized he left his post. He looks to me, wincing “sorry, gotta go.”

We all watched the man runoff through the crowd in the city. “I miss Heimdall,” one of the guards mutters, “hush, someone might hear you.” I turned around to look at the guards, the light-skinned one screamed at the sight of me. The other guard rolling his eyes, “guessing he was asking for you, m’lady?” I nod, “correct. My ship crashed on the bridge, it's unable to fly. I was hoping the All-father could help me” I state. “He's in a meeting-” the light-skinned one tried, but was quickly caught off by the dark-skinned. “I am Næir Turison, at your service. He..” He says gesturing to the other guard, “is no one important.”

I can't help but smirk at his behavior, “we will grant you excess, considering the fact, and take no offense m’lady, you're scaring the townspeople.” “Noted,” I deadpanned to the guard. “He's in a meeting-” “Do you wish to explain to the All-father why lady was not brought to him, immediately?” the guard, Næir, asked. The other guard rolls his eyes, “fine” he barked. Næir scoffs, “just walk in, and stop ‘til you’ve seen a throne” he says, faking his enthusiasm, but sent me a flirtatious smile. Næir opens the door, I crept in the palace, avoiding contact with Næir, it was weird to be seen as cute, or gorgeous for that matter. Once I heard the doors close, I look ahead “weird.”

I hear grumbling, and I take in a breath as I see that old fart on his throne. “All-father” I say, the man looks up at me, I was immediately seized, or merely surrounded. My defences were drawn back up, my blade was held high, “come closer and you'll be wishing for a swift death” I growled.

“Stand down!” The All-father demands, standing tall.

The guards backed away, I lowered my blade, but did not retire it. “Nebula, daughter of Thanos” Odin, as he was called, announced loudly. “Adopted,” I cut in, “we're not exactly on speaking terms, or breathing terms if you will.” “What do you want, girl” he says, sitting back in his chair. I fought the urge to roll my eyes at the old grump, and stood with confidence “my ship crashed on your rainbow bridge, it needs repairing.”

“I should help you because?” Eat my shit, old man. “So I can get out of your hair of course,” get a haircut ya old geezer. Odin was leaned back in his chair, his posture was very familiar. “How do I know you won't go back and report our status to your father?” He snapped, I bit my tongue, were you even listening to me, you ugly mother- ! “As I said, Thanos and I aren't on speaking terms, plus your highness, Thanos is very aware of Asgard’s power, he wouldn't dare attempt anything on you. Odin looks at me, that look, smug like indeed, cocky it was. I felt my brain brewing, “how're your sons?” I ask him, Odin straightens his posture a bit, he was uncomfortable. “My eldest, Thor, is out adventuring, going to protect others of course, how wonderful he is…” the words were laced in envy, if not a hint of jealousy, how odd for the man if he was Thor's father.

“Loki, of course, maybe you know him..?” “Yeah, he was a screamer” I taunted, but for a reason I thought might be risky, then again I was never the careful type, always doing before thinking. Odin seemed to have to take a deep breath for that comment, “watch your tongue” he threatens. “I presume he's doing good,” “he's dead.” This didn't surprise me, the little God was believed to be dead when we found his sorry butt, “for real this time? Or maybe this is second time” I say, taking a step closer to him with a knowing smile. Odin did not show any signs that my guess was right, his face told nothing. I was about to retreat on that knowing he might throw me in a cell. Instead, before I could do such a thing, “Guards… leave us.”

I notice some of the guards were uneasy, but dared not to argue with their leader. With loud marching they left, the doors closing behind them. I turned my attention back to a now distasteful Loki, his grin gone as he frowned upon me.

I look him up and down, he looked to be in pajamas, what the hell. I give a grimace, “hello, Loki.”
